Today the Doctor told me- “I fear you’re going blind”. A lot of mixed emotions Went rushing through my mind. I thought that I’d just close my eyes- And see what I could see... Forgotten sights from long ago- Came drifting back to me. I saw my dear, old Grandad- With cheerful laughing eyes... Who always had some time for me, Or brought me some surprise. I thought of days of childhood- The laughter and the play... My brother lived and laughed with me As though ‘twere yesterday. I saw those Rocky Mountains- Who’s peaks caress the sky.. And walked again the lonely wastes And heard the wild goose cry. I rode those Arizona plains- The sun ablaze above... And watched the restless tumble weeds A lifestyle that I love. Long forgotten smiling eyes- And tender, soothing touch I wonder how on earth a man Could e’er forget so much? This is just so sad, please tell me it's not true. I couldn't bear the pain of not being able to see all the wonders in life. This is just so distressing and brings to mind all of my own sweet memories, for which I thankyou. |
