Just sitting in the upstairs hall,
with nothing to do at all,
rocking chair and a guitar,
window and walls are up there.
Now the dogs at the top of the stairs
and I'm sitting in a rocking chair.

  Looking over the window sill,
out through the trees and over the hill,
to the beach down by the shore,
where all the seagulls soar.
Just took a trip from the top of the stairs
sitting in a rocking chair.

There was a boy who lost his kite
ran through a field with all of his might
the kite floated up through the clouds
it made the boy cry out loud.
I have no worries although I care
sitting in a rocking chair.

  A plane goes flying by
over the house up in the sky
I wonder where that plane is gonna go,
it's headed West maybe Idaho,
just something I wouldn't know
swaying too and fro.
Without that knowledge I won't despair
sitting in a rocking chair.

When you've found your place in this world,
your life has some how furled,
for me I'm a clever make shift man
doing the best I can,
if I can make the dog heel
and see the boats keel,
I must be doing something right
cause somethings going right,
life can seem pretty fair.
So keep on climbing up those stairs
until you find your rocking chair.

EARTHMAN

Now I want a rocking chair.  Very nice, very lovely.

When I find my rocking chair...
I'll be waiting until I can finaly rock in peace at the top of the stair.
I'm glad to see you are already there Paul.

Mind lending out that rockin chair of yours for a while?  Climbing up all these stairs looking for mine has made me a bit tired, I could use a few minutes of rest! =o)  Great poem!

Just beautiful. Simple, rhythmic, lyrical. I can hear that airplane in the distance up above the strum of a simple acoustic melody. Brings peaceful, poetic breezes to my lingering upstairs heart.
