Their lives were never perfect, At times, much more than rough. So many said, "It just takes love." Sometimes that's not enough. They grew apart, day by day While time just passed them by. He took for granted what they had... Turned deaf ear to her cry. Her heart cried out for all she'd missed And found love in another. A "perfect match," or so she thought... They'd finally found eachother. Romance blossomed, again time flew, But in this lies took place. Her marriage all but ending, Was "him" she must now face. Exploding anger, tears, regret The lies came to the front. She told him the truth finally... "The love is gone." Quite blunt. Shocked, confused, he questions "why?" Not willing to presume. She reminds him how he let her go. There was nothing left to resume. So, they carried on their separate lives, Though still married yet in name. Her heart belonged to another... This was no lover's game. They talked about a future. She thought about the past. Many a year she spent married And was told that this would last. She made a choice that broke her heart. She had to close a door. The future could not happen And her past meant to her more. So, there they stood, a new beginning, Remembering all they shared. They must find a way together, Recapture love and show they cared. It would not be an easy road. She did more than break a heart, But through understanding, forgiveness... They made a wonderful, new start. [This message has been edited by Sally S. (edited 02-02-2000).] |

If there is a chance to save a marriage that is the best route to take. I'm sure many blessings will come out of the hardships endured in the past. Well done, Sally! You've expressed the tension and heartbreak and hope in this very well! Denise |

I agree with Denise....and such a sad poem with a wonderful happy ending!! Take Care Bridgette Creation of woman from the rib of Man: She was not made from his head to top him; nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him; but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved." |

Sally- This speaks to the hearts of many. You did it with great feeling. Sometimes the things we want cost too much, but we pay the price. It gladdens our hearts when we find what we got a bargain ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Sally, sometimes it takes almost losing something to find out how much you really have. Sometimes it's too late. I am so happy that, in your case, it wasn't. Best wishes, Sally. You deserve the best Life can offer. |
