I hope you're satisfied Denise! (Ha, ha)
This is made especially for her, since she wonders how old I am.

Even though I'm almost twenty-one,
I'm not quite sure, about what's to become.
Everyday, I work hard,
hopping that it pays off.
I steer clear of any mischief
because, the devil's, the last thing I need!
I read my Bible and pray to Christ,
hopping that one day, I'll see the light.
Once in a while, insecurity visits me,
as I worry about my lack of money.
I've often wondered when my hard days will cease
because, I'm tired of being unhappy.
But one thought of my Holy Father,
made me realize, that life could have been harder.
I could have been doing drugs, causing crimes
and doing anything for a penny and a dime.
I thank my Lord everyday,
for not making me that way.
One day, I believe,
that I'll achieve my dreams,
no matter how low, my confidence seems.
Struggling to create rocks into pearls,
this is my life, as I struggle
to find my place, in this world.

Hey, Nate - this is a pretty terrific piece of philosophizing here - You really brought it out well.  I especially like the flow of thoughts - and the way you captured so maturely the concept that many people a lot older than you have missed - There but for the grace of God go I.  Well done, old Dogg!

To Jmee: Thank you for your message.
To Denise: You're not old to me because the brilliance of your poetry says otherwise.
To Marilyn: Thank you for your kind words. A lot of people tell me that speak with maturity and wisdom beyond my years.
To LngJhn: Thank you for you philosophic comments.
Sea: Thank you also for your comments.
