Thirty-one years ago today
I trembled up the aisle;
Much too young to withstand your force;
But you only stayed a while.

I held such caustic feelings in
Too many rugged years.
Chafing ate me away inside,
The nights were filled with tears.

You never did return to us.
You left our babies small.
- - -
- - -
The phone rang thirteen years beyond,
And I forgave it all.

Your mother said that you’d been shot,
Driving your taxi cab.
And our teenage children saw you first
In your coffin dark and drab.

I have a loving marriage bright;
The bitter past is gone.
But sometimes in the dead of night,
That sadness lingers on.

Welcome to passions, your poetry so sad but yet it carries and important message.
You have to forgive to carry on. Sometimes we have to forgive our selfs frist so we can forgive others. You did well.
Well done Kaleidoscope
