Descant

A song was born in me today--
A golden, giddy kind--
That minded not the passing gray
But visioned blue behind.

A sweeter tune was never heard
Than such was sung to me
Amidst the chaos, like a bird
That braves the stormy sea.

Who could keep a sober tread
And plod against this beat?
Chimeras dance within my head,
Inspire my earthen feet.

I know not whether those around
Could hear the joyous strains
Unless, perchance, they heard when I
Joined in on the refrains!

Such funny looks have come my way!
And, blushing, have I tried
To subjugate these whims that play
Unbidden by my side.

Yet, even when I scorned her charms,
Betrayed my muse with lies--
She merely spread those slender arms
And laughed and kissed the skies!

Anne~

Oh, my goodness.
My muse throws her hands
in the air in total bewilderment
at me sometimes too.

What marvelous images you conjured
up with this.  Extremely well-done.
Hope to see more.
