  Breath of Kiss

Expensive flowers droop, blacken, and fall
dark, wilted petals litter the floor.
Alive and vibrant for just a few days
like her; again the tears begin to pour.

Her blanket drapes across, filled with cat
her chair next to the frosted window pane.
Abandoned knitting awaiting mistress
neighbors murmur softly, it's a shame.

Her pillows smell like her against my face
soaking up the tears without ending.
Her cat licks my hand as if to ask..?
It's her memories that I am spending.

A magazine half-read, half-folded in place
her comfortable shoes in a pile next to books.
I sit and look from her favorite window
we laughed, loved in this tiny breakfast nook.

She said, "I'll see you later"! We kissed.
One horrible, eternal second; she's forever gone.
This place once hers; I cry, laugh, cry and cry
nothing shall be right again, forever wrong,
           oh so wrong.

Flowers bought in love, droop and fall
each petal a death, a death, a death.
Time will heal, cause nothing else will
I taste her, I feel her, I savor her laugh,
I feel her breath as we kiss goodbye.

Beautiful, yet so very sad

Excellent poem, full of grief. A grief that you made me feel along with you.

sad indeed it is but well done, very well
Thank you

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

bleeding: beautiful poem and well-deserving of the one it commemorates... your imagery is superb and the feelings you pour onto the paper (virtual paper) are profound and universal... a wonderful piece that i'm sure to read again before this post is lost...

sincerely,
jerome the boy with no brain

A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!
~Coleridge
