In another thousand years, What will come to pass? If one does but consider What’s happened in the last? From catapults and stones We’ve gone, to fusion energy. From ignorance of global earth We’ve entered space, you see. Transplants of vital organs Are now quite commonplace- And plastic surgeons do transform The figure and the face... The only thing which hasn’t changed Indeed, it never can. Is man’s desire to dominate- Or kill his fellow man. Nobility, and chivalry, Are facades at their best... Social order’s a veneer Just put it to the test. But here’s to all which lays ahead And all that now is past- Endeavor, friend, to persevere- How ever long we last. |

Truer words never spoken, Gunslinger. War has been there since Cain mugged Abel. It's a nature that will never change, I fear....but we can hope. Excellent poem. |

Too true! *thoughts wandering* Hmm, I wonder when we will have WWIII (however I do hope we never do) ~*~ Hell is not a place of fire and a devil with a tail and horns. But a place of torment because the light of God is gone. To escape this, accept the blood of Jesus Christ! ~*~ |

Oh, I think that we will persevere. Night and day we seek the answer sublime What would give us pupose we seek to find Why do we look up at the endless skies? The answer within the heart of the poet lies. |

A beautiful poem about a not-as-beautiful subject. ~Astraea "Sometimes stars can only be seen in darkness." "Sorrow's crown of sorrow is remembering happier things." |
