RUSSIAN ROULETTE She was so young and beautiful, so innocent, so full of joy and laughter and childish faith, my best friends' only daughter... Some friends of hers once got themselves into a mess, and all she wanted was to help them, show them a better way, my best friends' only daughter. And so, one summer night, she called to ask them over for tea and talks, in her apartment at the campus, my best friends' only daughter. And talk they did, about their doubts and pains, their fading hopes and dying faith... She told them of Christ's healing love, my best friends' only daughter... When one girl asked, "Will God protect me always from every deadly danger, wherever I may be?" She answered, "Yes, just pray for it", my best friends' only daughter. But suddenly one boy pulled out a gun and said, "There's just one single round in here..." And then he spun the drum. "You're crazy!", said my best friend's only daughter. "Oh, no!", he said, "here is your chance to prove that God will really protect you if you ask." He offered her the gun, and foolishly she took it, my best friends' only daughter. "Now put it to your head and pull that trigger, to prove your faith in God's protecting power." She cried, she prayed, then pulled. And died. My best friends' only daughter... She and her friends paid dearly, just to learn this bitter lesson: never challenge God. They lost a friend, she lost her life, my best friends lost their only daughter... by Willem [This message has been edited by Willem (edited 12-28-1999).] |

WoW!!! How terrible. You show many wonderful points here, you show how dangerous R.R is and how you shant challenge God. Very deep powerful poem here, but your expressed yourself greatly! ~*~ Hell is not a place of fire and a devil with a tail and horns. But a place of torment because the light of God is gone. To escape this, accept the blood of Jesus Christ! ~*~ |

How very shocking. Life is precious, and gambleing with it, foolishly as this poem depicts, is a fatal lesson to learn. My heart goes out to the family and to the young man who tested her faith. He certainly is going to have much to deal with. |

This one hit really hard...what a powerful work. *Krista Knutson* ~*Like a lion, without fear of the howling pack, Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare, Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water, Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha |

I feared the end of this before I even opened the poem. Very tragic story, but you've told it well |

To all those dear friends who were kind enough to evaluate this poem for me, I deeply appreciate all you said about it. Basically, this is a story of something that really happened in my hometown long ago, but I changed names and locations and some of the circumstances to protect the privacy of all involved, and I hope I really succeeded in that, while keeping the message intact.
