MY ENIGMA

Are you real, my enigma
You weren’t here just a moment ago
Yet somehow in my thoughts
I felt you were never far away
Your dreamy existence
Your faceless expression
Your gentle presence
What caused it to transform into bone and flesh
What star upon did I once wish
That struck a chord in your heart
And made it dance with mine
Oh enigma, my enigma
How could I have ever doubted
That we’d find each other again
For eternal commitment
Lives through space and time
“Hello” seems grossly inappropriate
In such an exchange as this
Strangely pure
Strangely familiar
Strangely enigmatic
My enigma
Yet even stranger still
For as I reach out to take your hand in mine
The alarm goes off with a shrill!
