You know? I often pictured me...
In other times and lands.
Perhaps a pirate Captain-
A shoutin’ stern commands.

Mayhap a General in some war
With saber brandished high-
Inspiring men at my command
To sacrifice and die.

Perhaps a king upon a throne-
With serfs adoring me...
And warriors bold at my command
And ruling land and sea.

Alas, I find this not the case-
I’m just another guy...
To struggle through a mundane life
And then grow old and die.

But, ah! within my cranium-
I’ve fought a thousand wars...
And slain a hundred dragons...
Won maidens by the scores.

I’ve vanquished many armies-
Explored the universe...
At least I have enjoyed life-
A man could do far worse.

Well, it certainly does seem a man could do much worse... and... know what?... all those Captains and Generals?? They were just regular guys too...

Slinger-

Perhaps just a little more
than an ordinary guy ....

'But, ah! within my cranium-
I’ve fought a thousand wars...
And slain a hundred dragons...
Won maidens by the scores.'

It's in the mind of great men
that such thoughts are born.

Terrific !

I like the rhythm here, Gunslinger, and as always, the reflective aura you've created. Surely you know you've a book in the making with all this wonderful work!
