I'd been thinking about him just the day before... I was reading an article about how TV shows kill off main characters nowadays and how Henry Blake's death on M*A*S*H blindsided so many people because, until that time, an actor who left the show simply moved away, got married, etc. The article also mentioned the season of Dallas that never happened and the last episode of Newhart.

The article's author quoted Andy as saying that Newhart's ending ruined his plans to have Andy Taylor wake up one morning from a dream about being a bigshot lawyer in Atlanta. I got a big smile from that... but then, Andy gave me so many.

I've always loved that man, he was a great actor.May his soul rest in peace and his spirit fill our hearts.
