Are there not active members want to take a turn looking after the very site you post at? We sure could use more hands on volunteers.

A Volunteer Moderator is a Moderator in every sense of the word, with one important distinction - they commit themselves to no more than a two week period. During that two weeks, they otherwise do everything a full-time Staff Moderator at pipTalk does. At the end of their tenure, they can go home with the knowledge they have contributed to the continued health and existence of our home. Small commitment. Very big contribution.

Anyone with 300 or more posts and two months or more Membership, who feels they understand and can fairly apply our guiding principles is encouraged to apply. If accepted, you will be granted access to our the Volunteer Moderator forum and a Staff Moderator will be assigned to help you learn the job as quickly and painlessly as possible. During your time as Moderator, you will learn a LOT about what makes pipTalk work, learn a LOT about the behind-the-scenes activities that make this place possible.

More importantly, you will be a part of that process.     Here you go, give it a shot!

Volunteer Moderator Application

Thanks for volunteering!  Look forward to seeing you "behind the scenes."

I do want to but not sure I'm mentally ready

I'll keep it in mind though.

Thanks Sharon. You are a blessing to these blue pages.

A bit more detail on what you'd need me to do, please?

Among the many glorious chores
You clean the toilets and the floors.
You get to do it night and day
Not only that: you get no pay!

A quick answer to that:

We monitor these poetic halls of blue
For the very likes of you.
The young, the old, the in-between,
Poets near and far can be seen.

If it means cleaning up this place
So be it then, where's the disgrace?
We clean up this poetic retreat,
So it will never become obsolete.

Our payment is ~ a job well done
Monitors do it for more than fun.
If you don't care about what you do
Then there's very little hope for you.

We take pride in this our daily chore
We only wish our staff were more.

C'mon folks, grab a mop and a pail, and become part of the cleaning crew.

You can email any monitor, or administrator, and they will be glad to walk you through what is involved.  It is not as hard as you think, and certainly doesn't involve any more time than you already put in.

The application page needs updating – it’s only got 2009 dates on it.

I think this thread may be "Closed" due to lack of interest anyway.

Thank you though Grinch for the observation, will pass it on.
