Diana, Helen, Kacy & Late -

Thank you so much for the happy wishes.  I had the best day!  My Mom, my three dogs and I drove up to beyond the Yukon River bridge.  It's about 250 miles roundtrip, but it's a beautiful drive.  We didn't see any wildlife - but the fireweed are in full bloom pink.  They just carpet the recently burned sections of the road.  We have a lot of wildfires here - so burned areas are very common.

I have been looking for a place to take my dogs to swim that is away from cars, dogs and other people.  I found a place about 30 miles or so from my house.  It's a small stream - off the road a bit.  They had such fun in the water going up and coming back.  My little girl dog likes to put her nose under water, walk the stream and blow bubbles.  She has quite a sense of humor.

Anyway, it was a wonderful day that ended at the bookstore.  It doesn't get much better than that.

Again, my thanks to all who have wished me a happy birthday - and you all have my love too.

Happy birthday to the Lasky Girl! It sounds like you had a very pleasant birthday! I would have loved to have joined you on your drive. That's God's country up there!

Fireweed blossoms - they say that the shorter the tip of buds, the sooner winter will be. Looks like an early one this year.

THANKING YOU! for those wonderful pictures, especially that Yukon shot, it is gorgeous!
I know about that fireweed carpeting, it is quite beautiful. I used to gather armfuls of it to feed my sister's pigs, they love it!
They also liked stealing our Sam Adams honey wheat beer as well, though Buttercup the pot belly would steal any beer she could reach. It wasn't a good idea to sit your fresh cold beer near those thieves. LOL
