Through 400 poems and 2500+ (overall 'posts') during my traverse of these fine blue sands of "P.I.P.-land" along the cybersea, I hope that I have given some small 'voice' to Nature; its stewardship by us; 'Universalism'; and the tolerance/celebration of diversity; and, in the process, some respite from the trials of hard reality for the readers herein via the 'magic' of poetic illusion. |

Yes, you have and you also have earned my respect and friendship. My concern is with the title of this post. What does it mean? It better not be some form of goodbye - I won't accept it. Nope, I won't. Hugs to you, my dear friend, Bruce. ![]() Alison |

Echoing Alison. Bruce, please don't go. It is too painful - for you and for your friends and readers. Ask me - I didn't last long away, as you know! - Owl |

Dear Bruce, please tell me that you are not singing a swan song! Mind you, I would wager that you literally could sing like a robin. Your poems on Nature are music to my heart, soul, and senses. I beseech thee, dear poet, to deny us not the fruits of thy considerable talents. ![]() Linda ~ a fan! |

Hi Bruce,we build a community here, this is overwhelming, your voice bring inestimable diversity to the site...You magnify with an unic voice and so universal way the nature and kept me breathless numerous times...I think we are never over with poetry and it is surely not an illusion (Homer and so many generous minds have used it to communicate with others,) Your talent is obvious and bring solace to other people but I surely would not give you an advice, we will have regrets unless you hacve decided to change for another site, please inform us if you do so.... With all my respect. yann |

We, all of us... sometimes get discouraged because so much of what we write comes from a spot deep within...and we love caring comments and criticism... You have a large following of fellow poets...they are here, all around you. |

Hmmm...a breather perchance to dream? On knowing when to quit...holding back the flow of imagery and cadence that is an interpretation of nature's life pulse? Yes, quit holding back, and write man! Write! |

Stay with us. Although I do not post poetry , I do read. I do not have time to address each post but you are one I always read and enjoy. I wish as somewone mentioned once, you could see the actual hits or reads so you would know. "late" |

I most assuredly do deeply appreciate everyone’s words of kind encouragement and your readership of my ever-most-humble ‘word painted’ image scribbling! … however, ‘life’ likely gets away from us all at some point and I have simply ‘devolved’ to that state so aptly described by T.S. Eliot: "We are the hollow men We are the stuffed men Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw... Our dried voices, when We whisper together Are quiet and meaningless As wind in dry grass Or rats' feet over broken glass In a dark and empty cellar..." Perhaps things will 'turn around' but, I can not imagine how ... |

Bruce, reading your last entry here.....how well I understand, as I myself, have been very absent from the forums. If absent you must be, then I wish for it not to be long and that you returned renewed and refreshed in your desire to put to words the vision of nature that only you capture and share so eloquently. Hoping to see your written words here again in the future.........jo |

Back again to see if you might have given us a clue as to why you would be leaving. After having read in the reply that you wrote, perhaps I was a bit selfish in wanting you to stay. I can understand moments in our lives when we have to unhook and become "devolved". I wish you well, and like Iliana so aptly stated, may you return "renewed and refreshed in your desire to put to words the vision of nature". ![]() Bon (inner) voyage! Linda ![]() |

I understand the need for some silence and introspection. If you must go for a time, I understand, but I'd like to thank you for showing me some of the beauty in nature I would not otherwise have seen but through your pennings. My gratitude. ![]() Come back to us soon. ![]() |

I can also understand the situation you find yourself in but I do know that creativity cannot be buried for long. It's part of us no matter what life throws at us so I know you'll be back. There are many of us who read and appreciate your work. Enjoy your rest and come back refreshed. Perhaps it's not for us to imagine how things will turn around but just to intend it and know that they will - and then be patient. Helen |

Dear Bruce, I so look forward not only to your wonderful poetry but to your wise and interesting comments as well. Your opinions and concerns give us all much to think about. I understand what you are saying because I feel the same way sometimes but I just want to let you know how much your presence on this sight means to me and I hope that you will decide to return to PIP and all of us who will be missing you. Your Friend Always, Ida |

It's also important to know... when to return, perhaps refreshed and renewed. It's been a rough few weeks for so many of us. But with anchors such as passionate poets, we never stay adrift for long. |

"hollow men... In death's dream kingdom Sunlight on a broken column There, is a tree swinging And voices are In the wind's singing More distant and more solemn Than a fading star." "We have lingered in the chambers of the sea... Till human voices wake us, and we drown." What remains, but those "burnt-out ends of smoky days" and all the "masquerades that time resumes"? ... |

Tell that to Henry David and all the others who bothered to pen their incredible impressions, thoughts we still cherish daily. You, too, have much to say, and do so in ways no one else can. |

“all time is eternally present All time is unredeemable. What ‘might have been’ is an abstraction… in a world of speculation. What might have been and what has been Point to one end, which is always present. Footfalls echo in the memory Down the passage which we did not take Towards the door we never opened” the unwritten continuance: What ‘is’ remains But dissipated illusion and the bitter void beyond far too many doors foolishly chosen, Wrongly, irrevocably opened along miss-taken passages. |

Good luck with inventing new uses for your time. I tend to come and go, but also knew when to quit as it was just taking up too much of my time to be completely honest. I volunteer here, and read as best I can, but definitely my days of sitting for hours writing are now over, as there is not enough time in my days. Again, good luck to you. |

always a struggle, but your life is your own and we should not burden you with our selfishness. Take care of yourself, ok? |

Well, the first thing I want you to know is my respect for you to make your own decisions. The second thing I'd like you to know is I have enjoyed your writing. I have an affinity for nature and so you see also for your pen. Peace. |

Bruce, You will let us, as your poetic family, know if we need to pray and or otherwise guide our thoughts to anything dire in your life; I am counting on that; but if you simply need a vacation, and wonder if your presence will be missed at all, put that aside, now...for PiP members rarely forget those who have made an impact on our family [and chances are, we haven't forgotten anyone!] Time outs and holiday breaks and other reasons are just celebratory guidelines of who we are and who we are meant to be; and we must adhere to reasons bigger than us at times. This includes: irrational spouses those unwilling to read our stuff, like co-workers people who don't comprehend "I'm thinking!" people who don't understand "I'm writing!" lost times, when we can't quite comprehend some moment that comes like surf, over and over again, almost taking us to a brink we alone cannot comprehend; but through it all, Bruce, down deep in your soul, you know that we ARE here, and no, we won't forget...at least not for some 20 years or more...AND you will always remain Alive in the Archives.... ![]() ![]() Be well, my friend. |

I REALLY (grandly) appreciate all the wonderful 'comment/reply' posts from all the fine folks in "P.I.P.land" to my initial one. I have had a 'love/hate' relationship with 'poetry' most of my life. Perhaps it because my 'scribblings' stand in such stark contrast to 'real life' amid the current "Runaway American Dream" ... that writing it seems so increasingly useless (pointless) ... Maybe it just won't let me 'quit' (an 'escapist addiction?') ... but, I sincerely keep trying!! |
