Two weeks ago, a researcher from the University of Kansas named Megan Hirt interviewed me after I volunteered to about the eating disorder orthorexia, and am featured in this new article highlighting this fast-growing disorder which remains under the radar in terms of eating disorders not yet specified. I wish the first article I have been featured in could have been on a much happier topic, but I believe it crucial to break the silence on this issue, and so am nonetheless glad I provided my voice. * Kansan.com: The University Daily Kansan: November 8, 2007 * I am also in the process of writing a column for my own Portland State University paper that further details my experience and the growing social concern in general, which has received minimal coverage. Although I have been a vegetarian for 25 years, I still get caught (occasionally) with a coconut covered donut or Three Muskateers in my mouth! Add more whole nuts to your foods, especially walnuts and almonds if you like them. If you enjoy fish, try eating sardines packed in oil as a snack, for they are high protein and also have the much needed fish oils. Good luck, Noah!!! And stop trying to be so 'pure'! |

Noah, your courage in bringing attention to both your Asberger's and orthorexia, is sure to help other's with similar conditions. By speaking out and sharing your experiences, you give them a voice and make them feel less alone in their struggles. You also increase the public's awareness and understanding. God bless you, my dear friend! ~ and may you regain a healthy balance in your life. Love & healing hugs, Linda |
