I received a voice-mail message from Taylor. Details are sketchy, but Martie is in the hospital, and it could be due to a seizure, but he was apparently calling from the ER, so I do not know much yet, other than the fact that your prayers would be appreciated. I am awaiting another call, and will update this message as news comes in. ~*~ Dear Heavenly Father, on this Sunday, the 14th of October, in the year of our Lord 2007 A.D., I ask thee to watch over our Martie. In my heart, I know this is but a test, and I know, in my heart, that You hold her carefully in the palm of Your great hands. Watch over her, help her through this, and please to watch over her loving husband, Taylor. Open his ears to the words of Martie's physicians, open his heart to understanding all of the nuances of this set-back, and help him to help Martie look forward to all of their days ahead. We are all so very blessed! I called Taylor after his call, and quite expectedly, received his message area. I called later this afternoon, and Taylor answered, even though they were still in ER. Martie had a CAT scan, and was expecting to be released home. What the doctors have figured out happened was a grand mal seizure. However, when I spoke to her, she sounded very good; her speech pattern was strong and sound. She recently went off one of the medications she had been on since the last time, and it seems that it is not yet time for her to go off such medication; but perhaps, a varied sort of medicine can now be given, so that it keeps the seizures away, but allows her otherwise to go through a normal lifestyle, including driving, taking on a part-time job, etc. To all of you, I give my heartfelt thank you for responding so quickly, so warmly, so well. People can live with seizures; at the time of the call from Martie, I knew not what to expect. I came here, to all of you, because I know how you all gather as one, and even though we have different beliefs? We all seem to come through when it counts most. Thank you for caring for a Most special person.    K |

Dear Friends...thank you for always being here for me when I need to be blessed with so much love. When I woke this morning, I started to name my blessings...not to myself, but outloud to Taylor. It was an hour later I had the seizure while cooking bacon  . The pan went on the floor with me and the dog ate all the bacon. One piece stayed on the burner and was there, with the burner on, when he came home about 30 min later. Somehow I had managed to get to my bed from the kitchen although I have no memory of any of it and I was unconscious then when Taylor called the perimedics. I was weaning off Dylantin (because of the side effects) and was down to 1 pill, from 3. I guess I won'd do that again. There are other meds for seizure activity....without so many side effects. So...at the end of the day, I'm counting my blessings again. Thank you all so much. |

OH, am I glad I checked this thread again!!! Dearest Martie, please please....continue seizure meds. I've worked with several clients with seizures, and most have good control on medications, though there are always some side effects. Thank goodness you did not apparently hit your head hard, or burn yourself. Thank you for letting us know you are OK! with love, Kacy |

I am so thankful they can get you back on medication and keep this under control Martie. Stay strong Taylor, it has been one heck of a journey for you two the past couple of years, and you both raised the bar high for us all as example of strength, and faith. Yippee! Pip prayer really works!  I am so glad that I popped in to see if there were any up-dates on Martie's condition! Hey, Martie Flowers, I am beyond the moon with relief that you were able to get back to us and let us know how you are doing! Martie, I'm glad to hear you are back home and doing OK. My mom was on Dylantin for many years to control this kind of issue as well. Take care on it. It's definately a drug that needs to be monitored and adjusted very slightly to see how the change affects someone. You're in my thoughts ... take care of you ... |

Susan...I would be interested, but your email address isn't listed. How about you email me?  And thanks.Thanks again to everyone who responded here. I left my bag of medicine in ER and they say they haven't seen it...so I'm going to have to go through the hastle of obtaining more. I'm a Kaiser patient, but the ambulance took me to a local hospital. Very few things are actually easy. Still, I'm very happy to be home and my dog looks satisfied...now I must clean the bacon greese off the kitchen floor and wall before I fall for another reason. Life is precious ... never take it for granted.  |
