Despite fading from the limelight within three years, she has flirted with various returns through the years, fanning critical if not overt commercial success. Her seventh album, "Just Me," shows off the 35-year-old as a grounded, introspective songwriter with the emotive fortitude of a major talent. My co-worker from UMGD saw her perform live and said it was a amazing and intimate performance. The heart-wrenching ballad "Winter's Over" is the pinnacle performance, devastatingly beautiful and simplistic, while the single "Feels Like Love" and title track are finger-snapping midtempo melodic archetypes. yanno, I'm dumbfounded (which is nothing new) but I came back to this again for some reason and reread... many years ago, when I first started writing poems on the internet, it was in another forum, and there was a gal writing in there constantly who called herself "Just Me" and I'm wondering if it is the same gal? |
