Our service provider is going to be performing some network maintenance this coming weekend, so the forums are going to be DOWN for a bit from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning, Eastern Daylight Times. Those are typically the slowest hours of the week for us, so hopefully it won't cause too much inconvenience for everyone.

If everything goes as planned, we should back up no later than 8 a.m. EDT on Sunday, May 6.

Oh, good grief, Man.  Here I've been off work for several weeks, have managed to get all of my other priority stuff done and put away, and am just settling into the idea of a long passionate weekend, but NO, you're bound and determined that I now keep my nose in the second novel and get done with it, as well!

Sigh...so be it!

I know the pressures you are under to keep things going smoothly and without any glitches.  You know I was just kidding you, right?  Right?     RIGHT?  HEH...right.

Well, I guess reading my newest book of the month selection is going to be on my agenda for the weekend. Thanks for letting us know so we don't suffer any undue misery.

I will just have to go for a walk then, seeing I wasn't invited to play scrabble.  Just wanted you to know that I play a mean game too.   Thanks for giving up your weekend for all of us Ron, but maybe it will turn out to be "for the birds?"     It's time for some Michigan bird pictures I think?

Thank you Ron.

But um, what didja do? (I'm looking everywhere for a new bell or whistle and um...no?)

I was hoping, at least, for one of those long explanations detailing stuff I don't understand! Have you quit trying?

Don't give up on me!

What exactly is forum maintenance?

I didn't do anything, Karen. Really, it wasn't me.

No computer is an island, however, at least not on the Internet, and the hardwire connections that allow all of us to reach this specific spot together were apparently in need of an upgrade. This particular computer, after all, hadn't so much as been unplugged since it was commissioned in July of 2002.

At any rate, the techs in our Network Operating Center (NOC) wanted to move it, along with some few others. That meant shutting it down for a time. Gee, I hope they dusted poor Artemis while they were at it?

Was that explanation technical enough for you?

Thank you Ron.

I just found out that it was me, 'cause um, even after the forum was opened I kept getting my butt booted back out. Made me a little paranoid--heh heh?

But noooooooooo...Ron didn't ban me!

(We have water in our phone lines, and um, the internet line too--so I still feel punished--just not by you. )

So Sheesh.

But thank you for answering me.

I was beginning to think you weren't talkin' to me.

(and hey, I like the technical stuff. I have this theory that if I keep reading it, I will understand it someday. Um, so far, it's not working, but I still find it fascinating. Besides, I enjoy your writing, so even when it's tech talk, I'm there.)

signed,

a very relieved serenity
