Recently, I have recorded several poems on the above-named website to use as links here. The site is free and very simple to use and an excallent way to store audio on the internet. A guardian angel, however, has recently pointed out a clause in the terms; " 3. By uploading a file, a user does so on the condition that they are relinquishing their rights to the file to Dump.com. Dump.com may modify, submit, use or share a file at its own discretion without any financial compensation to the user." I'm not positive what that means. it's hard for me to believe that one could lose all rights to one's work simply by placing them there, although that's what can be read in it. I've sent e-mails requesting clarification and will, hopefully, hear from them. Anyway, for those considering using that site, take these terms into consideration. I confess I am a little concerned because I placed my song on there which is due to be released in the near future. Also, once you place something on there, you do not have the power to delete it....bummer. [This message has been edited by Balladeer (12-29-2005 11:36 PM).] |

Me too  Oh I sure would want clarification of those terms for sure! It's a good thing you saw it before you loaded many more on there. Darn, they are sure enjoyed by so many now that you recorded them that way too. Hope it works out. |

Oh yes, those nasty terms, written in those very small letters, mostly hard to find. You'll see them in many 'free' Photo sites too. Really hope you can save your recordings Deer And in future, when it says 'free', start looking for the traps, because they're there for sure. Well, I got this reply: Please provide the URLs of the files you have uploaded and they will be removed. I would have preferred an explanation of the terms but, at least, it appears I can take the song off. The regular poems don't really matter. At least they responded...... |
