Guess who's birthday it was yesterday  Ummm....out of sight out of heart? Sorry I haven't been around lately, but my aunt died and during her sickness I travelled up and down from my place to hers (3 hour drive) to take care of things and now I have to administer her estate wich is a hell of a job. Her house was build in 1930 and furnished in 1930 and can you imagine that it never changed since then??? And that she never threw out any piece of paper since then??? I found her whole life wrapped up in pieces of paper, letters, photographs and lots more. I find school books from her mother or mother's family, dated 1831. Food stamps from WW2, it's amazing and fascinating and emotional. It will take a long time before all is sorted and devided between the eleven inheritors. And the only one who's making trouble is my own sister, damn that girl. Ok, that's it, that's why you haven't seen me around and will not see me for a long time ahead I guess (sigh). Happy Belated Birthday Titia, I have had a similar experience going through all my Aunt's things and some of the things found are incredible aren't they. I had to take a few to find out what they even were, and get this, one was a hook for doing up shoe buttons. So fancy too! Hope you had a wonderful birthday, and hope Muys is in good health too. |

Y'know how those brushes of memory on something very special come just up and slap you sideways at times? Yesterday was like that for me, Titia. Someone showed me a brochure that we did up back in 2003 for a poetry reading at Access TV...and wanted to show me that there were two poems on it that had truly touched her...one of them being yours. I told this woman that yes, indeed, you were a very special lady... and after she left, I kept thinking, "Yes, Titia is a very special lady!" I should have known to try to find the reason you weren't leaving my brain! Happy birthday, Titia. I am so sorry to hear about the family matters...I know what a difficult time this could be for everyone. Warmest m'friend.Sunshine |
