some tears of sorrow.

This man was a beautiful spirit--best friends with my deceased father in law, I last saw him as he said mass at my pop in law's funeral.

He was a much loved member of our community, and I would hope you would join me in celebrating his life, as well as some prayers for his soul. (and yes, Reb, he would love it if you brushed your teeth left handed in his honor.)

This is a devastating loss for the many people of New Orleans whom he comforted.

A post script--his body was found washed up on the shore.

Still no word of the chalice, however. He was fond of chalices.

and now smiling, as I just read this bit too:

""He said to me if things started looking bad he'd go to the archdiocese building," Michael Ginart recalled. "He said he had eight people with him trying to hold on. Of course, there was no one with him. He was not beyond telling little white lies to make people feel better."

Oh the stories I could tell...

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they make a movie about his life.

sighing

He is already missed.

Yes, Karen, celebrate his life...
even gild it with some little white lies,
perhaps, of something naughty that
only he could have dreamed up!

I'm sure his spirit will smile over that.

A life well worth celebrating. And I am sorry for the loss. It is a delight to be enriched by such wonderful people. Thanks for sharing such a personal matter Karen.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

So much devestation to endure but losing a dear one pierces new depths.  I'm sorry for everyone affected by his death and it sounds as if there are many.  God bless each who knew him to continue his selfless ways.

I'll bet you could write volumes on the events, Karen.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Lots of warm loving hugs to you and yours,

  Rae

Rae, and everyone, Father Red was just...a very special gift.

My sorrow at his loss is lessened by the joy that I had the blessing to know him at all.

Y'ever meet a fun priest?

The man loved life, but not so much his own, as other people's...

The kinda guy that makes you laugh while you cry when you lose him.

Thank you all for understanding.

His demise was the way he would have wanted it.

Karen, to know that this man touched you so deeply honors him, and that now that touches us, grows the fire of his life's passion.  God does give us blessings.   ......jo

Not only do I have a lump in my throat, but it appears that I have lumps in my fingers! I can bearly key out a response.

Not only have you shone some of your Light onto the life of Father Red, you have fanned the Light that Father Red has left behind.

Love & Eternal Light,
