They say to keep on the watch. Looks like "Ophelia" may be visiting St. Augustine. But this storm has been doing some funky stuff. So who knows if that will stay true. We just need to keep watching. Poetry is beauty in words. [This message has been edited by sweetpoetess (09-08-2005 10:36 AM).] |

The storm is stationary. It is down to 989 mb. Which means strengthening will occur most likely. Poetry is beauty in words. |

well, maybe it's time for me to consider moving to North Carolina now the experts say that years of hurricane season will be active, not just this year |

Dixie ... I think you should head inland ...like Kansas or Idaho! ![]() I didn't get to watch the news tonight, so not sure what Ms. Ophelia is up to. Let's hope she heads out to sea. hugs lady, Marti Living simply here in the mountains! |

Hiya Marti ![]() well she's a hurricane now, Category 1. You can keep up with it on the internet when you don't get to watch the news. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ yep, Kansas might not be a bad place |

But Dixie, haven't you seen the Wizard of Oz?!? ![]() Seriously speaking, I pray that Ophelia is just a tempest in a teapot and will let off her steam far out in the ocean! Keep safe my friends! ![]() ![]() Linda |

Well, I don't want Ophelia here! ![]() But, I'd rather her come here than go to the Gulf. They've seen enough hurricanes for this lifetime. ![]() |

UPDATE from Bloomberg News tonight: Ophelia is forecast to dump as much as 15 inches (38 centimeters) of rain and cause storm surges as high as 11 feet in the state. North Carolina ordered mandatory evacuations of low- lying, flood-prone areas in six counties and voluntary evacuations in nine others, Easley's office said. ``If you have been asked to evacuate, please do so, because these floods will be worse than anticipated yesterday,'' Easley said in a televised news conference. When high winds arrive, ``we cannot come in to get you.'' WATCH OUT for this one, PLEASE!!! |
