Happy Birthday Sharon!

There once was a gal from Vancouver,
Who charmed all the people who knew her,
She has a big heart,
That was clear from the start,
She’s a sweetheart to all ... we adore her!

Hope you have a wonderful day, Sharon!

PS, I owe you and Nan a birthday drink
at the top of the Falls!

Her heart's sincere
Her love is pure
She's never rude
Yet, she's no prude!

Compassionate, and upbeat
Charming, fun and so sweet
Each year looks better on
The lovely Mysteria, Sharon.

Wishing you the happiest Birthday ever,

I am about to steal this thread, sue me!

Wow Kit that was darn near a limerick, and I loved it!  You are all really sweet as I am really sort of hating this birthday!  The family is "up to something" as I have to get dressed up and I hate that!  Give me barefoot sandals and jeans any time!

Nice to wake up and see this family up to something too nonetheless.

So...I got up today and after getting my coffee, I sat down to read my daily OM that comes in email, (I love that - it starts my day off.)

May I share it with you, and also suggest you enjoy these too if you like that sort of thing?  You can register on the bottom and they don't bother you, just inspire you daily with something to really think about.  How strange it should be about birthdays, as it was my birthday?  Well, not really come to think of it            Will give you the link after.

June 9, 2005 ~ A Tribute To Life ~ Celebrating Birthdays

The advent of a new year of life is acknowledged by people in ways as different as the people themselves. Birthdays can be a source of joy, but also a cause of anxiety. When we turn six or thirteen, achieving another year feels like an accomplishment, while celebrations in honor of later years are often seen an unnecessary. But every year of life has brought with it new wisdom, learning experiences, and changes, making one's thirty-first year no less a milestone than one's thirtieth. Your birthday may come and go each year celebrated but not treasured, because you don't look forward to having to shoulder another year of age or can't muster up the enthusiasm for a sincere celebration. All birthdays, however, are important and can be a cause for joy, if you look upon them with a reflective eye and a mind toward the blessings the future will bring.

Birth is a miracle and, as such, celebrating the anniversary of a birth is natural and holds spiritual and psychological significance. Almost all cultures mark the anniversary of a person's birth, though the rituals and traditions differ. The profound meaning of birthdays is often cemented when we are young, and the day is imbued with fun by our parents. As we grow older, that meaning can change, and can sometimes become negative. We begin to associate birthdays with aging or what we have not yet accomplished. But a shift in perspective can revitalize birthdays as a reason for celebration. Celebrating a birthday acknowledges the progress you have made, the blessings you have received, and the goals you have achieved in the past twelve months. If you prefer to celebrate a birthday alone, you can use the time to reflect on your life, and how special it has been.

It isn't how you celebrate a birthday that imbues it with meaning, but the fact that you honor the coming of a new year of life as a positive event, brimming with new experiences to be had.

An entire lifetime can pass in the blink of an eye, but every new birthday is a chance to give fresh tribute to that life.

http://www.dailyom.com/articles/2005/441.html

I had a list of things to do before or around my own "tribute day!"

- I wanted a tattoo
- Donate a willow tree to a school
- Change just one person's life
- Make 60 people smile
- Give away one thing I treasured the most (gone to someone in here by the way!)
- Celebrate the day like it was my last
- Ride a hot air balloon
- Phone 60 people I haven't talked to in years (Ended up more, and now I belong to the Red Hat Society on top of it all!)
- Donate $60 to each of the 4 downtown homeless kitchens
- Donate 60 blankets to a woman's shelter

I have to tell you I did succeed in doing all of them or will do them when Kit, Nan and I meet up in two weeks!

We are SO blessed to even be able to breathe without it being laboured, to walk without falling, to hear the soft song of a tiny bird, and especially to be able to extend arms in an embrace.  I don't ever take one second for granted! Not one!

I know this is long-winded but I am for some reason very emotional today, and to be honest I love being alive but I truly don't like the number attached to it, so maybe I will just say I am 29?  I sure feel it!

~* Carpe' Diem *~

Ah heck while I steal the thread, why not go all the way right?

It seems today’s my birthday
Now I simply want to say,
I don’t intent to have it
No birthday, nope, no way!

I refuse to be this number,
Forever I’ll just stay 29,
No one can take my years from me,
I earned them they are all mine!

I earned every single wrinkle,
I wear each one so well.
Joints and muscles still moving,
And my doctors say, quite well.

I can spot a great butt miles away,
Men still open up my door.
Hey, I refuse that I ain’t got
Something they still adore?

I am not ready to be some senior
Getting discounts on a bus!
It’s just another birthday,
So today I want no fuss!

I swear to you it’s true,
I will now forever be 29.
But hey!  I want that cake
And lets share a glass of whine.

I can only hope to have half the elan vital that you so beautifully display sharon!

I love you lady.

Happy Birthday.

So they’re going to go up in a hot air balloon
And with all that hot air it should soar up real soon
It will drift over waterfalls slower than faster
A hot air adventure that wreaks of disaster

More danger involved and more risk than you think
In a hot air balloon owned by “Fly By Night, Inc”
Made to give them a startling view of Niagra
Unaware that the pilot is hooked on Viagra

So ladies beware, you’re as young as you think
But your honor is teetering there on the brink
And should anything happen on this wild excursion
Settle not for a dip, but a total immersion

Niagra, a honeymoon’s great destination
To be scaled by three ladies on a weekend vacation
I’m just a bit jealous as you may have guessed
But I wish you a safe trip, I wish you the best

Have fun! Call! Take care
Happy birthday, Sharon!

You are all just dang sweet!  Balladeer, ever hear of cornering the market?

I sure love this family here - you are all very special indeed.

I had a great birthday, and went to the premier of Miss Siagon,(was sad to even "go there again," but I wanted to go as this was the 30th Anniversary of "Operation Babylift," where thousands of half Vietnamese/American children were lifted out of Saigon, and adopted by families worldwide.   I haven't ever been able to forget about those babies faces, or "Operation Babylift" that gave some of those poor children homes at least.

I'll  post these links so the younger people here can see what it was all about.

Photo journal (21 Amerasians journey back to Vietnam) ~ http://news.yahoo.com/photo/050612/480/carf10606122333&g=events/wl/042805vietnamwaranni

Always some sadness mixed with laughter is good don't you think?  We learn on those days more than others.

Thanks again for all the lovely wishes.
