Even though she has only graced us with one poem since joining three years ago, Cherokee Child has been working hard on her writing. Guided by her Gentle Spirit, Cherokee Child [April] entered an Essay Contest and WON her age/grade group!

She goes on to a State level for judging...and then on to a National level, I believe.

There are some hefty monetary prizes with the higher awards, so let's all give her a round of applause, and our best wishes for continued success in her writing!

Congratulations, Cherokee Child!

You can imagine this mothers glee when she told me!

And, her starting to write even just a bit at such a young age, in no time at all I won't even be able to keep up with her I'm sure!!
Thanks Kari, and everyone for recognizing her accomplishment!

April honey? I am soooo proud of you.

Thanks everyone.  April hasn't had a chance to get in here yet due to her schedule but hopefully will be able to this evening.

Hey Kacy, her essay will be published sometime this year in a book entitled "What I Am Thankful For" along with the other work from her age group and other age groups.
They sponsor many essay and poetry contests and they also have a website where all of the winners will be posted at a later date.

Aprils essay was on Friends and why she is thankful for them.

Again, thanks all for the support.
The essay was a school project, and although she said "I had to write it", she did just fine becoming a finalist.

and yep,
mom is PROUD.
