Michael called me this morning after his appointment with the oncologist. It wasn't easy for him to give the news that wasn't good...the doctor gave him 9 months to live. They also said that radiation could not be used, but chemotherepy could and might prolong his life a couple of more months. He is considering the chemo option, but thinks he would rather not have the side effects on his quality of life. Again, I wish this was better news. I know Michael appreciates all of your support with replies and your thoughts and prayers. Keep it up...it really does help him. Hugs! |

Martie I appreciate you passing on this update. Dearest Michael, Sometimes life seems to fall apart a little at a time, and we want to fold up our dreams and put them away. Then from somewhere inside, there comes a song of courage and we know we can never give up. Hope is that song we sing to ourselves. Although it may be difficult to hear, it is always there for us, deep within our hearts. Please remember I am holding you close in thought and prayer. ~Hugs & Love, Nancy~ |

Michael... know that God holds us through everything. Personally, when I go through bad times (which pale compared to yours) it is enough for me to know that He has it all in His master plan. He loves you, and He is always there. He gave you what you need to get through this, and He will lead you home when He sees fit. Don't dispair, and don't be afraid. Know that I'm praying for you... Oh, make me Thine forever |

Chemo only offers me another two or three months at best and radiation is no longer an option. I'm very, very ill, much more so than I generally let on. According to the doctors I may hang on as long as nine months and chemo may offer me as many as three more, but it's not looking good, dear friends. They just missed it the first time around and now it's spread beyond control. I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am, or how hard it is to give my goodbyes to friends and family at this point. Also, I can't begin to understand how to tell my only child, just 15, how serious it has become, though I've told him that I'm likely to die now, anytime within the next mine months, or less. Even so, I still try to carry on life as normally with him as I've always done so, even though the *normal* times of father and son seem to be quickly diminishing because of health and continuing memory and weight loss. I go many days without being able to eat, rarely get more than an hour of sleep in days at a time and am only barely to keep down a cup of water a day now, if that. I can't even rest now, not even in bed. Thank you for your prayers and replies. More than ever, they are helping me now. Michael The stars will shine when I am gone, |

Michael, I'm so very sorry that the news was bad. I pray that you and your son and family and friends are comforted at this time by the knowledge that God will be walking with you and them through this valley of tears. One day He will dry all our tears and we will have no more reason for crying ever again. (((HUGS))) |

Dear Michael, Yes, please continue to have Faith. Love and Faith never die, and never fade. When you leave your life in God's hands, you need not worry about destiny. He will do what needs to be done. Many people have been cured by their love and Faith in God. And many others have not, but because of their love and faith in God, they knew they were in the best hands possible...even if it meant that it was time to go....they knew they would go into God's arms. Are there better hands to leave one's life in, than God's hands? We are all born to one day go into eternal life. There is no exception...we all will one day or another. A blessing before this passage is being able to say to the ones we love, "I love you", and "I'm sorry", and "I admire you" and "Thank you"..."I forgive you", and many more love sentences. There are people who don't get this chance, they go suddenly - in an accident, or other instant, non-expected unfortunate events. Yes, a blessing is to have the time to know when this time is...and be able to live the love needed. The best thing we can leave a child of ours is: love, guidance to a wonderful and happy life, teach forgiveness, compassion and wisdom. To teach a child the priorities of life, is to give him/her a happy future. Material things can be gone from night to day...but love never fades and never dies. My mother and my sister had cancer. They also had several months to live the love they needed to live, and wanted to live. Those last months of their lives was a blessing because they knew the true meaning of life and love. Yes, we all prayed and had Faith that they would get better and be able to live many more years...but God thought it was best that He take them. So they went into God's arms...to where we will all go...someday, sometime. Michael, don't lose hope and faith...and leave your life in God's hands. We will never understand the 'why's' of God's decisions...but if we have Faith, we know He will be there to hug us on this passage. If we get healed and live more years on this earth, we cannot forget the true meaning of life and love and give thanks. Everyone, before leaving their house in the morning, when waking up in the morning, should give thanks for another day and make that day shine with love and forgiveness...that is what will make us happy, no matter what happens around us. Because we never will know, when this day will come. But like I said, those who do know this day, have the blessing of being able to live until then, in love, thanks and forgivenss. God bless you my friend, every second of your life. You are in my prayers as well. Tais |

Dear Michael, I am holding you in my heart and prayers. May Our Lord of Heavens give you His touch of love and healing power. Trust and relax in Him. We don't know all the answers, but we know of His love. And this is enough to trust. I wish you could eat a little and gain some strength again, so that you will be able to rest and to feel serene in spite of the bad news. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Michael, They told my father's best friend the same thing almost 20 years ago. He went on to live for 6 more years. When he passed, he had fulfilled his purpose here on earth. He is still greatly missed, but we were grateful for the extra time. Miracles are a wonderful thing Michael, and I will pray for one for you... God Bless... |

Cancer may not take me out. It may be dehydration and starvation that will do so at this point. I know I'm fighting the doctors about admitting me, but thank GOD I still have fight! In a way, it's kind of neat, because we're not often told how much longer remains of our lives. Unfortunately, having a better mind, memory, would sure go a long way now in order to help me make the right choices, especially, if it's going to be over in less than a year. Yes, I've finally accepted the fact that I'm now dying. That was very hard for me, so damned hard! My mother, father, youngest brother are in Heaven, both of my grandparents, but I still have so much will to fight. I feel that a day, week, even months would be of great value to me now to help raise my son into the best man he could ever be, to teach him the *true values* in life, not the dumb ones that I chose. I've always tried to teach him a love of God, belief in himself and respect for women. I've tried to teach him that no matter what career he eventually chooses, that I'd support him 110 percent, that I've never expected him to be a clone of myself. He is who he is and I'll support him totally and without question. I ask now that you pray for Chris, not for me, as he is needing the strength now that's so hard for me to provide these days. Pray for my son, friends, that he'll find a way of overcoming the loss of his best friend, his daddy. My best friend was also my daddy. God bless you all and please never go a single night without hugging your children, letting them speak uninterrupted, listening to what you may think is just silliness, though to them, it never is. Believe in your precious children and know that they always believe in you. Hug them, love them, get off the phone, turn off the tv and computer. Spend your time with them. They need you. God bless, Michael The stars will shine when I am gone, |

Micheal, i have been following this post for a while...and just now thought to post a reply. i admire your courage to no extent. as a young child..i feared death above all. i always thought if i prayed hard enough God would let me live forever. but i saw...through other people that i couldn't live forever. no matter what. and it always amazed me how people accepted death...and only wanted prayers for another person close to them and not for themselves. you are another one of those people. i admire your strength...and prayers are there for your family...and your son. God Bless, riley i'm sitting in the dark....waiting... |

Michael, you are love personified. You are a living angel and you are a beloved member of our poetic family. I admire your strength and courage in accepting what may appear as the inevitable, but as a nurse and a spiritual healer, I have seen and been a part of miracles. As the saying goes, "It ain't over until it's over!" God bless you, your son and all of your other loved ones. May you and your family be surrounded by the loving, healing, protective light of the angels. Love & Rainbow Lights, Linda |

I honestly can't fit on the pedistal you create for me. Not only am I not worthy, but I have a terrible fear of heights, LOL. In the morning my nephew's wife is taking me to the Social Security board to see if they'll FINALLY give me disability. It won't happen, however, I already realize that, so feel like it's a waste of time. I've been turned down twice before, even with an attorney, so this will be no different. I wish I had some good news for you, but I've only grown weaker, less able to keep down liquids and once again, days without so much as a single meal. I ate three crackers tonight only to see them come back up. People want me to be strong, which is good advice. What they don't know is that I'm fighting with all that is in me now, ALL that is in me and yet still losing the battle. Still, I'll fight with everything I have so as not to lose. I was averaging one hour of sleep each night, but now that's even been stolen from me and something I can no longer depend on. What I have found I can still depend on is you and a few members of my family. There's still SO much hope in knowing that and it still gives me a great deal of joy. Joy, peace, hope, a willingness to fight, come from places we sometimes never thought they would. That's pretty cool! The doctors have given up, but don't you do so. I'm still fighting, so you do the same, deal? There is much heart in you, otherwise you couldn't be poets and share with the world what it should already know, that we're all the same, we all love, hurt, fear, have strength, fight back, have empathy, just give a damn! Yeah, that makes each of you very special. Yes, you ARE very special and never doubt that at all. Also, never doubt how much you've always been loved by myself and so many others. Write on, fellow hearts, write on the truth that we, as poets, always share openly and honestly to bless those around us. Hugs and God bless, Michael The stars will shine when I am gone, |

I've given Martie the info on them, please contact them - they will help you without charge! If you like, I'll call them for you and have someone come to your house.... |

I don't mean to embarrass them, but I spoke with Poet deVine and Mysteria tonight. They called me and it was SO great to hear from these two fine ladies and friends. Hey, they were even able to understand my voice, which is something my family has a problem doing these days, LOL! Praise GOD for them both, their talents, their real hearts showing at times when members of Passions needs such hearts. Bank on these ladies, they care! Hey, I care about them, so you'd sure as heck better, LOL! Thank you, both Sharons. Thank you! I wish I could have sounded better on the phone, but you know I did the best I could. You being here for me now actually made me cry, the first real tears I've felt in two months. Tears aren't always about weakness. Sometimes, you're just so touched that sometimes you just aren't able to convey such caring. You touched me, deeply, very deeply. Thank you, my friends. Michael |

Well we have some encouraging news. Mysteria and I, after talking to Michael for a few minutes, were given permission to call a Hospice for him. I found a Hospice not too far from his house and Mysteria called them. It is the Spirit Of Living Hospice. She talked to the head of admissions and explained the situation and told her that Michael has many caring friends who are worried about him. The lady agreed to look into it for us. Later, she called Mysteria back and told her that Michael does qualify for assistanced at their Hospice. Michael gave her his wife's phone number at work and his wife, Mary, gave them permission to talk to Michael's doctor about where to go from here. She will followup with us when she has looked into this, talked to the Doctor and met with Michael. We'll keep you updated - keep the prayers coming! |

A little update ~ I spoke with the lady in Admissions at Spirit of Living Hospice as she called to tell me that they were meeting with Michael and his wife this week. So all we can hope is that Michael will be given the care he deserves after that meeting. She did suggest however that if anyone wished to know the outcome, or more details of the meeting, they should contact Mary, Michael's wife. I suppose for confidentiality reasons this is the proper protocol, so I would imagine that Martie will probably be doing that so I too will await hearing the outcome of that visit by Tanya, the hospice intake worker. I sincerely hope all is well. |

Poet de Vine and Mysteria are what this caring *home* has always been about. Yes, it's a home, not just a bunch of personalites, strangers, but true hearts. The hospice visited yesterday and will be doing so again later in the week. They will be giving me a hospital bed for my room here and will be coming by to check on me, to see if there's any way they can make me more comfortable, be it medication, or just a friendly face, someone to talk with. I have to admit that I was impressed by their caring and felt they were very sincere. The hospice worker I met was only given 6 months to live and three years later is still here helping others who are in need. I feel, even though I don't know his faith, that He's doing God's work. I can't begin to tell Poet deVine and Mysteria just how much their caring is so much appreciated. They are both very great ladies, the best, the true heart of what's always made Passions the finest poetry site on the web. That caring and help is now helping to lessen some of the fears my family has been having, especially the fears of my only child, Chris. I applaud these wonderful ladies and friends. God made none any finer! It's true I'm dying, I've finally accepted that, but at least I'll be able to do so now with some dignity still left intact and not suffer as much as I would normally have had to. That in itself is an abolutely tremendous blessing. I DO have much fear, that's a given. I feel any of us would, especially those of us with young children. Even for those of us who believe in the Lord, dying is still a terrifying thing, but especially so when we're leaving behind a child we know we're not going to be able to raise into an adult. I'll never be able to spoil my grandchildren, because I don't have any yet. I'll never be able to teach my son to drive. I'll never see him with his first girlfriend. There's SO much I'll never get to see and it breaks my heart even thinking about it. Right now I'm not voicing these things to family, but only trying to survive and stay as strong as I can for as long as I can. I feel like a person on death row, but unlike death row, I'll not be given stay, after stay, after stay for execution. One night the lights will just dim and I'll be gone. I know that, can feel it now, no matter how hard I struggle against it. Still, I fight, I must! I only wish I was able to adequately convey just how much each of you have always meant to me and how much I've always loved this home of ours. God bless and thank you, my friends, Michael The stars will shine when I am gone, |

Michael, those were the most eloquent, soul-touching and heart-tugging words that I have ever read. I am so choked up right now that I can scarcely breathe. The power of Spirit is coursing through you and you have two devine and mysterious Sharon angels by your side! Dear Michael, I am so glad that the two Sharon's helped you with getting the Hospice arranged. They are a very caring and devoted group of people. I came into close contact with them a few years ago when Gary's Grandmother was so ill. Michael, my thoughts and prayers are with you every day. Heart hugs and love, Ethel |

Martie, My brother-in-law had some experimental treatment where they did use radiation, however, they used experimental treatment- he was ninth in the world to receive this treatment. They used a gadget to place a gold behind the area the wished to use radiation with, so that the gold would prevent other tissue to be damaged. (This was done in Ohio at the Cleveland Clinic) He had another experimental treatment in Louisiana whereas the radioactive piggybacked on the chemo so that it could go throughout the body. I don't know if it's the same type cancer or not, but if you're interested in learning more, I'll pass along my sister's e-mail address so that she can give you info. Sadelite Michael, I'm sending some prayers your way. Sadie |

Michael, as I was rereading the messages of love to you, I couldn't help think of Lyra, our own little Chipmunk. I'm sure she is watching over you and holding your hand. I can't pretend to know the extent of your feelings, but I want you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. with love and hugs, Marti |

I continue to hold you up in prayer. I also pray for your son and family... I pray that they will feel the Lord the way I can see that you do. I pray that they will realize that there is no death for those who love Him, and that we will all be reunited someday. In the meantime, the Lord will care for them. Your son will have his Heavenly father at all times, even when you can't be where he can see you. I hope you can all take some comfort in that thought. Oh, make me Thine forever |

Hi friends....I just wanted to come back and let you all know how Michael is doing. He appreciates all your thoughts and prayers, but is finding it hard to be at the computer for long but he said he would try to come in here soon with a reply. He asked me to tell you all what he told me. He is weakening and feeling worse...and his problems with weight loss and not being able to eat or drink continue. He is also in more pain and is having difficulty breathing and talking. He spends much time in bed and has a hospital bed now. (he says it's hard) and also uses oxygen. A nurse comes in twice a week to see him from the hospice group. He would love to get emails....he feels like he has been deserted by his friends and family, so please write to him...even though he may not reply, I know it would give him a good feeling. He needs as many good feelings as he can get right now. Thank you for your continued support. This passions family is very special. |

Dear Michael: I haven't checked in for awhile and I'm sorry. I have been praying for you every single day. I'm sorry to hear that you are weakening. There is so little one can say, but know that you are in my thoughts. I have just seen the beautiful painting you did of the sailing ship in a stormy sea. It's wonderful. My husband and I used to sail in the waters of Puget Sound and up through the San Juan Islands. We had a 36 ft. sailboat with a 55 ft. mast. It was an R-boat. Named the Riowna. Your picture brought back many wonderful memories. I will be back to say hi in a day or so. Someone here is always thinking of you and we are all keeping you in prayer. You know Michael, the greatest thing about prayer is that the silence of it can be as loud as a thunderstorm if you just listen for it being sent by others, and feel the power in it. I am sure there is not a single day goes by that someone in here doesn't wonder how you are, and how you are doing. The problem being of course is that we all seem to forget to ask you? So, it's good Martie and you are in contact and we can hear, but believe me when I tell you, we all care, and am sure many are praying for you. We are there with you if only in love, compassion, understanding, or lending our strength to you to carry on each day. In times of adversity, there is strength in numbers and you couldn't have bigger numbers than you have here. Sending you a gentle hug. |

Michael, you most likely don't know me or remember me as I'm new here at PIP. You helped me bring some friends into the forum...Renee and JL...I heard about you last night from a friend and I'm so very sorry, but as all have suggested here, perhaps if we create a circle of prayer for you, our prayers will be answered...I will be thinking about you, and you'll be in my prayers every night, if there is anything at all I can do, please email me...just to talk or let you know there are many who care and love you...please keep the faith strong...all the administrators here at PIP have my email address...don't be shy or feel it would be an imposition. Sending along many prayers for recovery. Love Lee J. |

I talked to Michael this evening and wanted to let you know how he is. I'm sorry to say that he is getting worse. Although his pain is manageable, the rest of his problems are the same and without the nourishment that he needs...I am very worried for him. I told him how many of you have written here to give support and he was touched. He still cannot get computer access. I think I will copy the thread and send it to him by land mail. It makes him feel better knowing of your support. Thank you. |

Hi everyone, I talked with Michael today and he wanted me to tell you all that he is so thankful for all of your prayers and well wishes. He says he is greedy and will take all he can get and more. As for an update, I hate saying this, because it breaks my heart.... he isn't doing so good. He threw up while on the phone with me. He says he threw up 11 times last night. He isn't keeping any food down or liquids. He is in a lot of pain. The only good note, he is going to a family reunion tomorrow, at least long enough to say hello to his family, then he is going right back home. I got to speak briefly to one of his sisters, who came over while we were talking. I am glad he has his family reunion, and hope he can be there long enough to see folks he wants to see. Please keep the prayers coming. It hurts to have someone I care so much about, in such pain. ~Susan |

I just spoke with Michael. I was happy to hear his voice stronger...also his frame of mind seemed more positive. He said he had not thrown up for two days...and was able to eat a little and keep water down. Yay!! I'm getting ready to send this thread to him by snail mail. I know he will really appreciate all your continued thoughts and prayers. For some reason, talking to him tonight...brought me more tears then usual...maybe just feeling hopeful for a little bit more time. He is so special! Hugs to you all! |

Michael, Martie gave me that hug that you sent after she had read the poem I had written for you. Thank you, my friend! ~ and I am sending a humongous one back to you! I had posted the poem in Open Forum 32, but I am going to key it into this reply so that it will be part of this thread for when Martie prints it out for you. It was good to hear that you were able to tolerate some food and fluids yesterday. I hope that you are able to do that today as well. Michael, I have many of my friends sending prayers up to God's Ear for you. When you think of all the people around the world praying for you, that is one mighty big voice for Him to hear!!! Here is the poem that I dedicated to you, Dear Michael. SPIRIT RAINBOWS +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ May angel love lift spirits high, Above your woes and pain, And sunshine warm a weary heart, And cares be washed by rain. But when the time does truly come, For your return back Home, Your soul will rise thru' Heaven's Gate, Where it is free to roam. An Eden full of Light and Grace, A place of joy and peace, A refuge from the storms of life, A place of sweet release. Music flows from harps of Heaven, Songs sung by angel choirs, Melodies caress one's spirit, As cherubs pluck gold lyres. Floral scents will feed your essence, Each breath will soothe your soul, Gone will be all pains and sorrows, God's Love will make you whole. All colours of His Spirit Rainbows, Will fill you up with Light, Gone will be your days of darkness, Gone will be your nights, May angel love lift spirits high, Above your woes and pain, And sunshine warm a weary heart, And cares be washed by rain. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ God bless you, Marvellous Michael! Sending lots of love and a glorious rainbow of healing Lights, Linda, Your Earthy Little "Angel"! |

Michael, dear Michael....hello and good morning...please know that your in my thoughts and prayers, sending you a big big hug and the only song which comes to mind when I think of you..... It must have been cold there in our shadow to never have sunlight on your face you were content to let us shine, that's your way you always walked a step behind So, we were the one's with all the glory while you were the one with all the strength A beautiful face without a name'''for so long a beautiful smile to hide the pain Chorus Did you ever know that you're our hero and ev'rything we would like to be? We can fly higher then an eagle, cause you are the wind beneath our wings It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but we've got it all here in our hearts We want you to know we know the truth, of course we know it, We would be nothing with out you!~ Chorus Did you ever know that you're our hero, and ev'rything we would like to be?~ We can fly highter than an eagle, cause you are the wind beneath our wings Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high oh fly, fly so high against the sky so high we almost touch the sky Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath our wings. |

I send a hug on angel's wings At least that is my goal. Each of us is with you now To hopefully warm your soul. I send a kiss on summer's breeze To land there upon your cheek, Along with it comes my strength To help you be a less weak. I send to you some memories, A simple push of a button away. I hope your family reads to you Some blue pages on this day. Sending you a thought, a prayers, and all of the above Michael. ~*~ Today I'm only moving clouds, tomorrow I'll try mountains. |

I am wondering if Michael is still accepting phone calls actually? Martie? Do you know if there is a particular time Mary prefers folks to call? Thank you, and if you read this to Michael first - tell him this is sure the biggest circle of healing I have ever seen! We stretch from one end of the continent to another and beyond with healing hearts. |

There is an answering machine at the house, Sharon...they monitor calls and answer when it is appropriate, I think. I sent him by snail mail many of replies to this thread...he really enjoyed reading them...thank you! Also, I have seen him online...so his computer is working some of the time. Yay! Thank you for your continured support and for keeping this thread going. What a great family this is! |

Oh, dear Martie, it feels so good to read this good news! Dear Michael I continue to hold you in my heart and in my prayers. Have you ever heard of Saint Padre Pio? I have a picture of him hanging on the wall and when I am near I always ask him to help you in your struggle to recover your health. He was a Man of God and helped through his divine devotion many in their healing process. Wishing you to continue to feel better with every day. My love and hugs to you. Margherita |

Hi Michael ... I have the use of my hubby's work computer today and I was reading through the notes to you. You are loved and thought about by so many here at Passions. I was glad to read that you are able to keep some liquids down and are feeling a bit better. We will be in our new home in New Hampshire at the end of June and I hope to be hooked back up to my computer by the first of July. I continue to pray for you each day and check into Passions when I am able. Hugs and storming Heaven with prayers, Marti |

Hi Michael Dropping in to say hello. Here's hoping you had a good day today. We've had a beautiful day here in Toledo, but it looks like it is about to rain. My son has a dog her name is Wolf and I have written about her once or twice and she had a birthday today, she is 15 years old. I asked my son if he bought a birthday cake and he said he bought her 2 steaks, doggie treats, a new scarf. Boy talk about a spoiled child. Here is a picture looking out into my garden. Enjoy this peaceful place. Love and hugs coming your way. BonBon |

I heard a song today Michael, and trust me you don't want me to sing it to you , but if you ever get to hear this song, it speaks volumes to the soul. I found it almost empowering, so wanted to send you the words at least. It is called, "You Raise Me Up!" by a young man by the name of Josh Groban. Here is the link so you can play it and hear it as I uploaded it to one of my sites. Also the link is below to show where I found you the words too. Just click this link to play the song: http://www3.telus.net/public/a5a34240/Josh%20Groban%20-%20You%20Raise%20Me%20Up(1).mp3[/ URL] [URL=http://www.lyricstop.com/albums/joshgroban/youraisemeup.html]http://www.lyricstop.com/albums/joshgroban/youraisemeup.html You Raise Me Up When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me. You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be. You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be. There is no life - no life without its hunger; Each restless heart beats so imperfectly; But when you come and I am filled with wonder, Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity. You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be. You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be [This message has been edited by Mysteria (06-05-2004 12:54 AM).] |

Hi everyone...thank you again for this thread and all the loving that is displayed here. Michael has computer use now and I asked him to come here to read and was hoping that he would be able to reply but it must be too difficult. It's not fair not to give you the latest update. I talked with him a few days ago. He has a patch now for pain which he says is really helping in that department. But, he is still having trouble keeping food and water down although I think this is better then it was before. He sounds clearer mentally although is voice is very weak and he tires easily. The hospice nurse comes to see him once a week, I believe. He has not seen a doctor. Keep up the thought and prayer vigil please...I know that it helps...it helps me as well. I love you all! |

Michael, I've been thinking of you today ~ as always! I dedicated this repost in Open 32 for you but I thought I'd post it here as well so that it could be part of this special outpouring of love for you. +*+*+ O' sweet Jesus, please comfort me in my hour of need. Lay Your hand upon my fevered brow and ease the pains of my heart and soul. Give of Your strength so that I shall not crumble as did the Walls of Jericho. Hold me in Your loving embrace so that I might rest in peace. Shine Your Light before me to guide me to Heaven's Gate. Surround me with a choir of angels to lift my spirit high. Quench this thirst from Thy infinite well of love. Quell the river of fear and sorrow that permeates my being. Beam Your smile into the very core of me. Bless me, sweet Jesus. Bless You, beloved Son of God. Amen. +*+*+ Linda |

Michael called on the phone this morning. He woke me up...I think he forgot the 3 hour difference in our time. His voice sounded stronger then it has in a long time. He had the oxygen on high though...said it was hard for him to breathe. He also said that he is able to drink some liquid, but eating is very difficult, so he continues to loose weight. His pain is also bad, even though he has two pain patches. The hospice nurse continues to visit. Thank you all for your continued support through this thread. Michael read it last week...I'll continue to try to nudge him in here to read again. |

He must know what an angel he has looking over him... feathers, and all of that, Martie... Michael? There are strengths of body; and then there is strength of mind. Continue to share of yourself what you can with your Son...who will carry on all of your goodness and successes, as you continue to instill in him... faith, in life. |

Hi everyone! Thank you for continuing to post on this thread with your well wishes for Michael. I talked to him this afternoon and he was sounding pretty weak. His voice is only a whisper. I asked him what I should say here, and he said, "the truth...tell them that I am dying". His doctor's say he won't live to see Christmas. He also said that if you are praying for him, to ask that he be able to eat something. He is afraid of dying of starvation, before dying of cancer. He also said to tell you that he hasn't quit fighting, but that he spends most of his time in bed. The pain is getting worse, but meds can be increased to help that. I wish I had better news. I am just a traveler looking for a home, finding I carry it around with me, and sometimes it's just too damn heavy. |

Dear sweet Michael, Sometimes life seems to fall apart a little at a time, and we want to fold up our dreams and put them away. Then from somewhere inside, there comes a song of courage and we know we can never give up. Hope is that song we sing to ourselves. Although it may be difficult to hear, it is always there for us, deep within our hearts. Please try to eat a little to give you strength. I'm still praying Michael...and they will continue. In the quiet stillness of the night, if the hurt gets really bad, close your eyes... and know I'm there with you, and I hold your hand. Love you gentle man, Nancy |

I wasn't going to go here but felt I better say what I had to say on self-medicating: Oh boy Becky, I love you to bits, but I have to say quickly here that a little information in the wrong hands is often not a very good thing. A lot of information in the wrong hands is often deadly, and I have seen it happen on more than one occasion. It is wonderful to research out various avenues of alternative medicine, and even explore them, as long as the attending physician is aware of them and you are both of the same page. I wish Karen would pop in here and explain that even herbs can take away the effect of a prescribed medication, and dilute it to the point it is useless, when in fact it is needed. Although we think "all natural," these herbs can still cause a lot of grief if not used properly and mixed with something they shouldn't be. Try to remember these were used as the only means of medicine once, and they carry their weight too. Example for the ladies: If you take herbs as well as perscribed estrogens, trust me you would not like the results one bit, I know I tried it, without checking first. We sure can't begin to start to self-medicate ourselves, especially in life-threatening situations without our physician knowing what is going on, it negates the entire purpose of having a doctor who is taking care of our well-being. However I wanted to say I have used a lot of chinese herbs in my day as you know, for everything from tennis elbow to warts on the kids, and sometimes things work, but sometimes they don't. We tried them when my friend was dying as well but under hte doctor's supervision. What I like is that they are all natural. A lot of areas, (at least in Canada), in Chinatown have herbal shops. There. you take a number, sit, wait just like a doctor's office, and the elder Chinese herbalist gives you a slip of paper to fill up front after discussing your ailments and his cure (which is free here anyway). those herbs are costly. They then wrap everything in a piece of newspaper, you go home boil it up, and drink it down, and presto I can personally attest to the fact that over 90% of the time it happened to work on me, BUT I want to make it clear that in each case I told my doctor what I was doing so it didn't affect any other medications,etc.. Self-medicating is DANGERGOUS! Great research to explore though and discuss with physicians. I was aware of these as the woman who started this tonic is from Ontario, Canada. Michael, may this day be filled with great amounts of peace from pain, love, and a little joy for you to enjoy, and may tomorrow be the same. |

Yes I know Sharon. I was merely pointing out that when they tell you that their medicine isn't working, then why not try something else. As for my cancer, I am taking apricot seeds and immutol. Apricot seeds have had thousands of cases where it's gotten rid of the cancer, and the immutol to boost the immune system. I told my doctor right up front that I was doing this. He's heard of it and told me to go right ahead taking them. It was merely a suggestion, not to upset anyone. |

Ahhh, no one is, or will be upset Becky, and in an approach to getting rid of cancer I am sure everyone wants to do the very best for any person who needs that care. I know I would sure like to know all options as well. My point was that all parties have to be on the same page so each knows what the other is doing that is all. The worst thing for anyone to become is an armchair doctor or psychiatrist, as sometimes it hinders recovery more than expediating it, when in fact they wanted nothing but the best. I am glad your doctor knows about anything you try, and don't get me wrong it is good to explore all options there are. I just believe that in any personal experimentation that involves a chemical change, sharing that information with the doctor is a good thing. I send only my healing thoughts to you, Michael, and to Martie's husband, Taylor as well. |

My thoughts are with you Michael. You are truly a kind and generous soul and though I haven't been around lately, I'm priveleged to be able to think of you as my friend. I was going to put a hug icon here, but my goodness, it's been so long since I've been here that I've forgotten how to put one in!!! So I'll have to go the old fashioned route, xoxoxoxox |

Hi everyone...thank you for keeping this thread going. I just got an email from Michael's wife...she asked me to tell you some things...as follows: Hi Martie... It's Mary.. Michael's wife.. just wanted to give you an update and ask you to pass it on to his web friends. He rarely gets on the computer now.. so if you .. or any of his friends want to mail him.. please have them send their emails here. I will show them to him.. and he can dictate replies. He's so pitiful now.. frail, shaky, no voice, no appetite usually.. pain is increasing.. his memory is getting worse. He doesn't think anybody cares about him. That's one reason I'm writing. I know that's not true. Also.. if anyone wants to send a "real" card... please give them my business address: be glad to accept them there. Please do not post that on the board though. Mary I have the email address and business address if anyone wants them...email me and I'll send them to you. Thank you all. |

Mary, Michael told me about you and I was supposed to send you some pics of Davey Jones that my husband & I had taken at a local casino. I haven't forgotten that--I just forgot where the photo album might be. (I'm a little goofy that way--and Michael can back me up on that.) Would you do something for us here at Pip? Please take Michael's hand, and squeeze it, and tell him that his friends at Passions haven't forgotten him--his compassion and heart live on as does his poetry. We love you Michael! Prayers unceasing... Much love from Karen |

Mary, you sound like you have the right frame of mind and holding the three of you together now is sure all important. Michael is very special as an artist, writer, and human being and I am sure right now he tires easily and forgets we all care about him. We will indeed keep those cards and letters heading his way, so he knows how well thought about he is. Take care. |

Here is another email from Mary that she asked me to post. "We are all trying to cope with this...it still doesn't seem real sometimes... it's something that no one can really imagine fully.. until the doctor is talking to YOU.. Michael asked the oncologist flat out.. "How long do I have?" "Nine months..w/o chemo.. maybe 12 with it.." the doctor said. We were all just staring at him...silent. It was horrible. It was like a bad dream.. everything moving in slow motion for me. He is such a talented man... and a decent man... and a moral man. A very RARE combination nowadays. And a great father. He does tire VERY easily.. and his short term memory is VERY bad. So he does need continuous support. The cards and posts will help tremendously... I printed out the thread and showed it to him. He read some of it.. but his eyes are not working right anymore either... so it's hard. I will read as much as I can to him... it's a very emotional thing for me. Thank you all for being there for him and for us. Mary " |

Dear Mary, YOur words recount my last weeks with my husband who died of cancer. The best part of these days was acceptance and a sense of peace, and that seemed the greatest of gifts that was bestowed a family through the rigors of pain and months of denial. My prayers go out to all of your family that you will find such peace and that in the moments in between the suffering, that you may find reason to celebrate a life and a sense of contentment in the beauty of the memories that you all share. I have fond memories of our last weeks. With the waking in the middle of the night in excruciating pain, came the doses of medication, and afterwards, a ritual of two cups of hot chocolate, and some of the most intimate conversations of our marriage, in which we discussed life and death and all of my husbands accomplishments and success, success being easured in fullfillment. Our beautiful children, the battles we fought together, our victories and our defeats, the moments through the years that we could laugh about. Even in pain, we laughed. Even in turmoil, there was peace. And the greatest victory of all, was the acceptance of death. It took a long time, but it came I wish you peace wrapped in a warm embrace Liz |

Hello friends...Here is another post from email from Mary. Hugs to all! "Thank you all so much, for all the prayers, hugs, good wishes and understanding. I am slowly getting Michael to read the posts.. he is just not able to concentrate very much at a time. Liz, thank you especially for your post about your last days with your husband. We have already begun to have some of those discussions.. and we even enjoy sitting and watching old comedy shows together.. like Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy and All in the Family... he still laughs occasionally at things. Chris will do things to make him laugh also... He had a discussion with me the other night about remarriage.. and how he wouldn't mind that But he warned me not to be taken in by a 'smooth line'.. and to be careful in my relationships. It was very sweet.. he told me he loved me over and over... and hoped that anyone I married would love me as much as he did. But I don't think that's possible... I wonder.. I tried to re-register so I could post direct here.. but I see you aren't accepting new members.. Is there any way around that for me? If so... I would love to rejoin. I used to be a member.. but don't remember my user id anymore. Thanks again everyone... Mary" |

Dearest Mary In reading these posts I am humbled by the great love you and Michael have been blessed with for each other. I'm crying tears both of joy and saddnes for you both...and I wish there were more I could do....please...truth be known you are both in my prayers every night, you and your entire family. I lost a very dear girlfriend, and in the end we were together everyday for at least an hour. Her understanding and faith helped all of us...she was an angel... She told me this sickness was not of God, and no matter what I believe that I had to believe in that. I didn't then, as "my" emotions took over, thinking only of the pain in her loss. She asked me to let her go...as it was time...time for her to move to another part of the world...that she'd never leave me, and that she'd always be here with me, as she pointed to my heart. She Mary was a great purpose and turning point in my life....I understand now and do not fear death...knowing there is a greater plain waiting for us. It is the fear of letting those go...and the fear of the unknown which makes it so difficult...not to mention, parting with a great friend/relationship....but in my heart, honestly....I know the soul never dies, but somehow becomes much more...something bigger then we know, and death is just a simple way of crossing over. Death is life...think about it...a brand new life....maybe even becoming a part of everything. God promises us that when we die, we will have all the answers to everything...me being so curious, that's one of the first things I hope is settled, cuz I do have so many questions. If there is anything at all I can do, pls contact Martie, as she has my phone number I love you both, hold onto each other and gain strength in your love and faith and belief in one another, and in that, know, we all love you so very much. Your in our thoughts and prayers.... God Bless Lee J. |

Mary, in some ways, when his time does come, you and Michael may be even closer than you are now. I have found this to be true through experiences of my own. For instance, my sister's son Chad, who disappeared on Lake Ontario 8 years ago with 5 of his friends, has come through countless times to help us all. Afterwards he leaves signs all over the place. We know we will one day be reunited, but in the meantime he is like a guardian angel to us. I literally could write a book about his visits! In fact, I won an internet short story contest writing about just that! Life does go on after death ~ it just takes on a different form. Energy cannot be destroyed (and that goes for one's life force as well!) ~ It can be transformed, but never can it be destroyed. I apologize for digressing, it is just that I loved my nephew like a son. In fact, he called me his "Second Mom". ~ and in some ways, we are even closer now. I just wanted to share that with you. Loving, healing hugs to Michael, you, and your son Christopher. God bless you all. Linda |

Hi! Thank you Martie for contacting the big guys.. and getting me back in! I have been reading the new posts and tearing up.. I will read them to Michael when he wakes up... and I'll try to answer questions asked. My memory is not great anymore.. being "over 40" First.. thanks again for your beautiful sentiments.. prayers.. stories.. wishes.. and kind words. We all appreciate them so much. Second.. you can call him on our regular number. Please email me for the number. He sleeps at strange times though.. usually the best time is after 3 pm any day of the week. I have to warn you.. his voice is barely a whisper.. so it will be hard to hear him, and his short term memory is just not there much anymore.. so he may not remember the conversation.. but he'd LOVE to hear from any of his friends. We are Christians..and we all know he will go on...it's Chris and I who have the hard part. We will miss him so much.. but we will be alright. He is afraid of the unknown part.. and doesn't WANT to leave us.. he keeps saying.. "I'm too young..too young to die".. As they say.. the good seem to die young. And he is one of the good ones. I wish ALL men had his morality, his poetic soul, his loving heart.. the world would be a much lovelier place. It is hard to let go after 30 years.. but I know I must.. and so does he. We will be together again someday... Mary |

Mary, I haven't replied before now because I haven't felt my contact with Michael to be as important to him as anyone else's. But I'd like you and Chris to know that Michael helped me with something very special to me and I will never forget it. I am not sure if he will remember it or not, but my sister got married a few years ago and I had been asked to write and then read a poem during the ceremony. Michael was one of my Pip friends whom helped me make this poem just perfect and I was very proud to read it at her wedding. I will never forget how much Michael helped me even though I was not a popular person at Pip and helped make my poem into the success that it was. Thank you for sharing Michael with us and my prayers and thoughts are with you all. Dawn |

It's Mary...I'm sitting with Michael and posting on his account. First of all.. thank you Lee J for the BEAUTIFUL flowers! Michael and I appreciate that so much. He is a gardener and still loves to plant flowers and seeds... on his good days. He says he's going to plant the greenery in this arrangement. That was very sweet of you.. And I am reading some of your posts to him now.. thank you all so much. I want him to know that he is not forgotten..and is loved by all his friends. I think it's beginning to get through. Thanks again.. Mary & Michael |

Hi Mary and Good Morning Just wanted to send a little reminder to you & Michael, saying that we all do love him so and care more then he believes and it's time he consider that, (wink) even if just for a moment. I believe if we were all there, and certainly wish we could be, we'd invade your home, and you wouldn't get rid of us! Big smiles and hugs....know that your in my prayers every single night. I may not go to church, or possess a religion, but I do speak to HIM every night before going to sleep. Wishing you all well, and have a good weekend. |

I think he's baffled as to why this has happened to him... this horrible disease...good question... but then.. we won't understand these things here on this Earth. Thank you all for your continuing support and love. Mary The stars will shine when I am gone, |

Dear Mary and Michael: It is good to see posts from you and know that you and Michael are sharing them. I mailed him another card today, but like to stop in here and see if there is news. My prayers are continuing daily and what you are going through, brings back memories to me of family members I have lost to this same disease. Such a hard road! You are both coping so well with it. Mary, maybe having a bad memory about now is not all that bad really? What is so important is this particular day and the hours in it. I wondered is he doing any pastal work at all on pads while in bed? I of course send you all the strength you all need to get you through this, and may love remain the glue that keeps you all so close. Kindly watch for a wee parcel at work. |

Hope your having a good day today, please say hello to Michael...remember if you would be so kind,I really didn't know Michael that well, so it's ok that he doesn't remember me, I'm simply a lady from PIP that wishes he and his family good will. Michael, Mary, and Chris.. May the Lord look after you, and give you all strength. Mary, you seem to be very strong and faithful to the Lord. Michael is lucky to have you, and I'm sure everyone around you is inspired by your strength and faith. Blessings to you all. Oh, make me Thine forever |

He is asleep right now.. thankfully. He sleeps at odd hours... Mysteria: Yes.. I think the memory problems are probably a blessing now to some extent.. but it's also frustrating to him and to us. But we deal with it the best we can.. I will be watching work mail eagerly! Lee-J: He will ask "Who sent me the flowers?" again and again.. and I always say.. a new friend of yours from PIP.. and tell him your name.. he smiles. Lovebug: I'm sure I could be more faithful..but I'm trying.. it's very hard to understand these things... I am just trying to encourage him to not fear death.. of course that's easy to say from where I sit.. Martie: Thank you for all your help and caring.. Oh.. and he sketches VERY occasionally.. but not much. His hands shake badly alot of the time. Thank you all for your love and prayers.. Mary |

Mary, please let Michael know I'm there, mentally...just a number of small familial emergencies on my end that have taken up my time... but yes, I won't ever forget his kindnesses, or his remarkable talents... tell him thank you one more time, from Sun. |

Being diagnosed with cancer myself recently I can understand what hell you must being going through. It really does suck to say the least. I'm very sorry for what you're all going through, especially the suffering of Michael. I know it's not easy to deal with all this. I think you're all doing the right thing, and you shall be in my prayers. God guide and direct you, heal and touch you. Just remember, this is NOT God's fault, but HE will direct thy paths and bring understanding and peace to you and your family. You are in my deepest prayers and thoughts. Hang in there and know God knows better than anyone what you're going through. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Hugs to you all. God's blessings. |

Thank you again so much for the posts...I'm reading them to him each day... and thank you Love Bug and BonBon for the snail mail cards.. I read those to him also. They are much appreciated. I think I forgot to thank someone else who send a card recently.. my mind is not great these days.. and I've forgotten who it was now.. but anyway.. thanks to everyone. Everyday I look forward to the mail at work.. because I'm hoping to find cards for him.. He is so happy to see them when I get home. Whtdove ... we shall pray for you also.. I'm so sorry.. The news today is that Michael has a lung infection.. could have developed into pneumonia.. but the nurse said we got it in time. They have him on antibiotics so he's feeling abit better now. It was giving him alot of extra pain. More later.. Mary The stars will shine when I am gone, |

Michael, my brother-in-law, God Rest his soul, passed last summer after a long battle, and I have some comprehension of the suffering you are feeling, not only physically but for the love of your family. I believe you are embraced by God's love no matter what, and if you can give of yourself this love to your son it will enrich him. This has to be so difficult and I have insufficient words... have you questioned the doctors if aloe vera juice might help at all with internal things as a result of the radiation? I was a new comer here to PIP when I first learned of your illness, but you touch me with your beautiful art. Enjoy your family and may the All that is All surround you in loving and healing light. ....jo |

First of all... Mysteria.. thank you so much for the lovely book I will read him the stories.. And thanks for the website address.. and the lovely sentiments from the last two posters. He has not taken chemo nor had any radiation. Just wanted to make that clear... he refused the chemo when they told him it MIGHT extend his life three months.. Radiation was not an option. I thought perhaps an update? I received an email from Mary who has another family member very ill. She went to visit them for a few days while Michael's sister stayed with Michael. Things are about the same, but thankfully the hurricane didn't knock on their door to add more to deal with. I just continue to wish them both the strength and love to deal with these times, and hopefully they will continue to be surrounded in love of family and friends. |

I'm sorry I've been away so long.. I'm afraid I've had a death in my family. My dear father, age 87, has gone to be with the Lord now.. he had Alzheimers, heart problems, diabetes... and finally pneumonia and kidney failure... I'm missing him so much.. but he's so much better off.. out of pain.... Michael was upset that he couldn't go with me to see Daddy a few weeks ago in the hospital... but he just couldn't make the trip. I'm so glad I went.. my father had one of his rare lucid moments.. called me to his bedside.. grasped my hand firmly.. and looked at me like.. "Are you who I think you are?" I said.. "Yep.. it's me.. and I drove all the way here BY MYSELF!" If you know me at all.. you know I hate going anywhere alone.. but I had to get there.. so I drove four and a half hours to get to Atlanta alone. He knew that too. His eyes got wide as saucers.. as if he was saying.. "You're kidding!?" I saw my father right then.. my real father.. for just a second.. I'm SO glad we had that moment. He passed about five days later. Michael is going abit downhill..he is having to have morphine occasionally.. the nurse says it could be weeks now.. not months. Prayers for peaceful passing please.. Mare, I am glad to see you made the drive safely. Again, all I can do is offer my prayers for you, Michael and the family to help you get through the days ahead. You have my sympathy for your loss and your story touched me that he recognized you and was his "old self". Remember, I am here if you need me... hugs Maureen |

Mary, My thoughts are with you and Michael at this time. I know it's never easy to let go or to say goodbyes. I pray that Michael spends his final days as pain free and lucid as possible so that he leaves behind memories you can cling to rather than try to block from your mind. May God ease his passing from this earth and strengthen and bond your family through his life. God bless, Ruth Don’t’ Cry for me ~Ruth Kephart~ Don’t cry for me when I am gone, and this life progresses to the next... Remember me with smiles and pleasant thoughts. Don’t throw dirt on my grave, as my body lies cold and still and my soul soars... Bury hatred and cruelty and let the anger go, not me. Do not cut flowers to lay on my casket or on my grave they will only fade and rot with time... Plant seeds of happiness instead and let them grow. Don’t shout at the skies as they pour forth in rain for when the storm ends... The sun will once more shine and things will seem brighter. Don’t cry for me when I am gone, for in you I will always live. |

Dear Mary and Michael: Mary, my heart really goes out to you in dealing with the loss of your father. I am so glad you had a brief time with him, where he knew you. I went through something of the same type of thing when my father died. You never forget those few precious moments. I am praying daily for you and your family and Michael. I know there is no reversal for him, but pray it will be peaceful for both of you. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

I have lost someone else very dear to me too... I haven't mentioned it here before...but.. I just found out in May that my first love...Monty... was murdered three years ago.. I hadn't seen him for a long time.. but his death has affected me so strongly.. that it's hard to comprehend sometimes. I think part of it is because it was such a shock.. and I never had any closure with him in our relationship...part is because I "lost" him the same year I lost my father.. and will lose my husband.. who was a friend of his by the way... I find myself surrounded by sorrow I'm afraid. I hold onto God.. tightly... Thank you all again.. we love you all. Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Mary, you have suffered several blows recently. Please know that we are all here for you...no matter what. Give my love to Michael and your son, and you, especially, I hold you in my hugs... I think we all have a first love in our lives, and if we knew what had happened to them, we would be right where you are. Not an easy place to be. The nice thing is, that you were able to share him with Michael. Give Michael my best, please. Karilea |

My heart ~ and my prayers ~ go out to you, Dear Mary for all that you have been going through. It could have fallen a lesser woman but I do believe you are beginning to realize that you have far more inner strength than you once may have thought. We never really know what we are made of until we are tested ~ and tested you most certainly continue to be. I will pray for Michael's release and that it be one of 'grace full' passing. Sending a rainbow of loving, protective Lights to arch over your blessed home, Linda |

Thank you both...I guess Monty's death has hit me harder than you would expect for the time that has passed since I last saw him.. I think.. in the back of my mind.. I had hoped to see him again. We were very close... Michael was a friend of his.. that's how I met Michael.. it's a long story how it all evolved.. kinda like Peyton Place... and some of you younger folks won't have a clue about that reference... I don't think I was ever completely over Monty... not by a long shot... It's just.. very hard to lose him, my father and Michael all in the same year... I am alot stronger than I thought...God moves in very mysterious ways... My son has had a religious awakening... he has started going to church.. and wants to be baptised! I'm VERY happy about that..as is Michael. I will pass on your love and prayers to him and to Chris... Much love and appreciation for you support.. Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

I've been rather silent in this thread, but want you to know that, though quiet, I still have been constantly praying and thinking of you each. Just don't feel I have words that can do justice not only to my thoughts and prayers, but more importantly, to your pain. Mary, hang in there... It's obviously not easy or understandable, but you can survive. Michael will be at peace soon, and pieces of him will remain in you, and in every person who knows of him. May God hold you close... Always, Alyssa |

Well, I'm more than old enough to understand your Peyton Place reference... and it is amazing how people come into our lives and effect them in such wonderful ways. I'm sure more than a few of us, Mary, could say, "Oh, the stories I could tell you..." and we for the most part would nod our heads in understanding. Everyone has a story. Please tell Chris we are all very proud of him for listening to those voices...and I hope he finds what he needs in any manner of religious experiences and teachings. Give Michael our love, and that you all know we continue to keep this very special family in our thoughts and prayers. K |

Thank you Alyssa, what a beautiful sentiment.. And Sunshine..your words are welcome to my ears.. I need to let you all know that the hospice nurse has said "He may have weeks.. but possibly only days now"... He and I have been spending several hour of very quality time together each night now.. we've been remembering the old days...laughing.. and even talked (and cried) about Monty. He had forgotten about the murder.. he comforted ME over my grief! What an amazing man. Thank you Trillion for your card... he looked at it for several minutes...which is a long time for him now. Just wanted to let you know.. the end is probably coming close now... Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Mary, please tell Michael that he will never be forgotten, always loved, and that we will always have his poetry here, just as we have Lyra's, to read over and over again and be close to him, for years and years to come. Please tell him he is loved. And even while in Heaven, he will still be walking here. |

Mary, I've been away for a while and am now just catching up on some of the reading I had missed. I'm so sorry for the loss of your father and friend. I'm thinking about you all, and hoping Michael is comfortable. Could you please give Michael a big hug for me, and tell him it's from Kit? I'd be so grateful. Please let him know he's in my thoughts, as are you and your son. Take care ... |

Michael called me tonight. We talked for about an hour. It did my heart beyond good to hear him. I have been thinking about him a lot lately worrying over calling, not knowing if it would be intruding on his family time, so I was afraid to. He said it wouldn't be intrusive. I got to say 'I love you' to him again and tell him that I miss him. I cried a lot too. It's hard when someone you care for isn't doing so good. It's a helplessness that just is so unfair. Michael is the dearest, the sweetest friend and I do love him so...thank God I got to talk to him again I will be calling him on Monday, just to check in. Friends should call him. He needs it. Please think about calling just to tell him you care... |

Thank you all again... and yes.. please call if you can. He is usually up all day...and half the night. If you need our number, please email me at [email protected] His mind is not very clear now... so he may not know that any of you know he's dying.. he tends to forget that everybody knows...so if you call.. bear with him. He's hard to hear...but he tries. The nurse has said it could be 1 to 6 weeks.. they can't really pin it down any further right now.. but he suggested we have an early Christmas for him. Love to all. We had a pretty good day today. Had Thanksgiving dinner with his sister next door, her son and his family. Michael showed some of his old sense of humor. He ate more at one time than I've seen him eat in months. When he finished.. he sat back.. "Whew! I'm FAT!!!" You had to be there.. I will read all these new entries to him tomorrow as I did today... thank you all for your prayers and well wishes for us all. It is lovely to have friends. Especially when you have to go through something like this. Love, Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Thank you all.. I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately.. I'm frankly exhausted.. things are getting much worse... Tonight was a turning point. His feet are so swollen (because his heart is weakening) now that they are starting to split.. and leak fluid. We called the nurse out to see him tonight.. she said he HAS to stay in bed most of the time. He, of course. HATES that idea.. Angel and Laura (his neice and sister) will be staying overnight now.. starting soon... taking shifts... He has to have somebody there 24 hrs a day now. He was having heart pains.. and lung pain.. and breathing problems.. BAD ones tonight.. I can't see this lasting much more than days now... but he is SO determined to live.. it's incredible. He is now on morphine every two hours... Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.. they are most appreciated.. Love, Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Ah, Mary...his will is so strong... Please let Michael know that he remains in everyone's prayer, for what is best for all...and tell him, please, that sometimes we need to attend the invitation, willingly. My heart is so sore, as your body and spirit are sore...but let Michael and your son know that only He knows our time. I send my love to you all. |

Mary, this has to be very difficult and extremely sad for all of you, but most of all for Michael. If he is so determined to hang on, it could be he is probably worried about you all, and sometimes folks just need to hear that everyone will be okay so they can move on. I am so sorry he is in the kind of pain that requires morphine so often. It is but a small comfort to know I suspect, but we are all there with you in thoughts and prayers. May you find the strength you need to see you all though. God bless you all. |

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear Michael's struggle is becoming more difficult, but very grateful that you have let us know how he is doing. He and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers. I was just speaking to Nan yesterday and we were both wondering how he was doing, and hoping he knew that his friends here at Passions are thinking of him daily. Please give him an extra hug from me, and take care during this difficult time. |

I received an email from Michael's wife, Mare this afternoon with the latest news on Michael. I've copied and pasted it below. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes for he and his family...I know it means alot to them all! It sure does to me. "Michael agreed today to be admitted for a few days to the actual hospice house.... they will try to get his pain level under control.. and the extreme swelling in his legs and feet reduced. I'm glad he finally agreed... that's where he needs to be. Chris and I will be going over to see him shortly. His sister and his niece are taking turns sitting with him." Mare |

Dear Mary: I can't help but feel relived that Michael is going to a hospice house. They will be able to do more for him, in controlling what is happening, than you can at home. It will also, I hope, give you a chance for a little more rest, which I'm sure you sorely need. Thanks for keeping us posted. You know you all are always in my prayers! "Just a quick note to let you all know what's going on.. and to not expect to hear much from me for a few days at least. Michael is home from hospice for Christmas... but the doctor said he has to have someone with him EVERY second.. literally... so I'll be with him most of the time... when no one else is available. Sleeping in there too. They literally said they'd be surprised if he made it through Christmas... Just wanted to let everyone know.. and I think you all for being there... and caring. Love, Mare" |

Mare, I appreciate as do the rest here at Passions the fact that the computer is not a priority now as you must be worn out and going through a very rough time. But I do appreciate you taking the time to let Martie know so she can forward any news on to us. This news tonight is very very sad. Please tell Michael we love him... and will miss him..and when he feels it's time, to go with God. He will never ever be forgotten....never. I pray tonight for a peaceful and painless transition, when the time comes. Peace be with you, Michael and Chris. Thank you Martie for passing on this update. |

Mary, on this Christmas Eve, please know that our prayers are with you and Michael, and the other members of our Passions' family who are in need of the love of our Father. So many of us know this time of wait, and wonder; knowing also that we go through the motions of doing our best for the ones we love. My prayers are with you, Michael, and Chris. |

May the celebration of our Lord's birth comfort you at this heartbreaking time. He came that we should have peace, knowing the joy of everlasting life awaits. May we celebrate the earthly life of preparation for the unending heavenly one with our Savior. Please, Lord, ease the tension, sending angels to surround and lift their heavy hearts, I pray. God bless you, Rae |

An email from Mare today: "I sat with Michael all morning... holding his hand and talking to him, hoping he could hear me. He has been in sleep mode for two days straight... in and out.. but mostly out. I have read that people can still hear you... when they are like that, so I sat there and just talked..about things we had done together over the years... the good things...none of the bad... about how he would be healthy again in Heaven... about how his parents were waiting for him, my father was waiting for him to help with a garden... and how his friend Monty was waiting, to see him again. He would squeeze my hand in response to alot of things.. so I know he was hearing me. Told him I loved him... and that I probably didn't deserve him... that he was a good man... and that Chris and I would be ok... that it was time for him to let go of this life...and start his new life in Heaven... with no troubles, no worries, no pain.. and a brand new body. Talked about lots of other things too.. just rambling... but it felt right. I'm glad we had these days at home together, because we just checked him back into Hospice at 3 today..... and the nurse says it may be a few days...but I doubt he'll ever come home. He is such a fighter. I told him today was the third anniversary of Monty's death, and that it was ok if he passed on the same day. I was terrified of that before, but I've been thinking about it over the past few days, and I think it is ok.. might even be fitting actually. I just want his suffering to end. This has really hit me hard now... Now that he's just laying there.. unable to really stand up alone... it's like.. "Hey.. he's REALLY going to die ... " It's hard to explain. I find myself with very swollen eyes again... I feel God around me..." |

I can recall during my own Father's last hours how I told him that all was well and that his work here was done. I promised him I would watch over the family and that he could now let go. "Let go, Papa," and the following morining in his sleep, he did. The worried furrows were gone from his brow and a sense of peace glowed from his face. It was both a sad time but full of relief and respite from the empyshema that ravaged his body. I only pray that Michael will pass this well and that all around him feel the sense of relief that I felt at that moment knowing Michael will be with our Father and free from all pain in a new body. Dear Lord, I pray that you guide him into your arms. Amen. |

Mary they do hear in many ways, and if he himself can't hear you, then the angel standing by sure does. He could be waiting for the time he wishes himself to go. He needed to hear your permission to go, to know he was loved, and that you and Chris will be fine, which you have been telling him. The rest is an agreement between him and God. I know that by being in the hospice now he is definitely out of any pain physically. None of us know the mental pain until we are in it ourselves, but we sure can hold a hand of a loved one walking through it - which you are also doing. You dear lady are now in the reality of an ending of this life and the wonderful beginning of another. I for one wish him a safe and wonderfully uplifting journey. For you and Chris I wish your spirits to be uplifted again as soon as possible as Michael would have wanted it that way I am sure. May God be with you all at this time. |

Mary, your holding of Michael's hand and being with him for hours on end while saying all those glorious things to him, will help him through this transition more than you may even realize. I know that God and the angels were with you and guiding you to say the most comforting and healing words to your beloved husband. Hearing is the last sense to go, so though he may not have been responding to your words, he was hearing them. My father has been dying in hospital for over two months, in fact, he has had last rites performed on him 3 times. My parents, sister and my nephew who is more like my son, moved away 1 and half years ago to British Columbia from Ontario. The separation has made my Dad's poor health so much much more difficult for me. I have felt so useless ~ and the miles have been very difficult. God did give us all a Christmas present. He came home Christmsa Eve. He has home care and their home has been modified for his infermities. During these stressful times, I have not only been praying for my Dad, I have been praying for Michael, you, and Christopher as well. Michael's journey will be safe, and at the very end, painless as he returns to his home in the stars. Michael is truly an Earth Angel that God lent to us here on Earth. He has spread love and beauty and has fulfilled God's plan for him. It appears as though the time for Michael to return Home is nigh. God speed, Glorious Michael. We shall miss you ~ and always love you! You will be adding your bright star to the firmament! Shine on! Love & God's Light, Linda |

Weep not for me, though I’ll be gone conceding to the gentle night. Grieve in your heart, but not for long, upon my soul's recondite flight. Ponder deeply your love of darkness and you’ll see no need for tears. My mind finds peace, my body rests, I’ll be but free, there are no fears. Dwell not upon my fight for breath, carry forth tomorrow but no strife, for my essence ends not with death, but begins the newest phase of life. -heather |

My beloved Michael passed on to be with the Lord at 9:10 PM tonight. I was not with him at the time.. his niece Angel was, but she called me immediately. I had gone to say my good byes last night, because it was getting much too hard to watch him suffer. I sat with him for a short time last night, alone, held his hand...and tried to ease his restlessness. Even with all the drugs, he was almost constantly moving...restless. Told him I loved him again...and that his mother and father were waiting for him...it was time to let go. He squeezed my hand once...so I choose to believe he heard me. I am so happy for him that he is out of that poor tired body...and soaring free... "That God now lifts up his weary body and sets his soul free." I love that... When I got there tonight about 10 minutes after he died...I leaned down and kissed him...then sat with him until the funeral home came to take the body. It was over two hours... the hospice people gave us plenty of time to say goodbye. His face in death was peaceful, no pain, no anxiousness...no more suffering. I don't quite know what to do with myself now...I alternate between crying and numbness.. I'm alone tonight which is ok. Probably good. I can almost hear Michael and Monty talking to me.. "Mary...it's ok.. we're both alright... you will be too.. and we both love you..." I loved all your posts since Martie posted my email, but I picked a few pieces that I really liked... "Michael's journey will be safe, and at the very end, painless as he returns to his home in the stars. Shine on!" "for my essence ends not with death, but begins the newest phase of life." Michael knew all of you loved him...and he returned that love. I have come to love you all too... and I appreciate all your support and prayers and caring through all of this. God Bless you all Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Mary I am so sad for the loss you and Chris will feel, but I too am pleased Michael will no longer suffer, and is free to do what angels do. I suppose in his case, he may probably paint some, write some, sail some. He will enjoy meeting old friends and adding new. So until we all meet him again, I too will say, "Goodbye dear friend, I am glad to have had you in my life for a brief time, and am better for it!" May God bless you all, and make this transition easy for you, as I am sure Michael would have wanted. Take care Mary, and do stay in touch to let us know how you are doing please. Mary, I know that Martie will be away for a day or so...I don't know if you have reached her yet, but as I reflect on your words, and on this thread, I can't help but think we've all been an invisible family to you and Michael and Chris...here with our prayers and love, guidance and concern. You were right, you know. He felt that last squeeze, and he heard those last words. You were correct again in that he is no longer suffering, and is whole again in his Lord's haven. I am glad he had the holidays with you, and he quit the world on its last day of the year. It was a gift, you know, so that you can start this day and year anew, with his memories, and those of Monty, joined as they are now, to watch over you and Chris. Please, continue to listen to the voices of your loved ones, and those of your friends here at Passions, and take what you may, leave what you might, and perhaps you will allow us to hold you at times when things seem strange, and share with us the times when Chris is making you and his father proud... and please know that I will keep you both in my prayers. Love, Karilea [This message has been edited by Sunshine (01-01-2005 07:27 AM).] |

Mary, I am so sorry. Please accept my deepest and most sincere sympathy. Michael was a wonderful man. Since seeing your note this morning, I’ve spent quite some time reading and reminiscing through many posts and e-mails with Michael. More than a few tears have been shed on this end. We came to know and love Michael not only for the beautiful poetry and artwork which he shared with so many of us here, but also for all the hard work and dedication which he brought to us here behind the scenes at Passions as a Deputy Moderator. Working in the background at Passions, I came to understand his integrity and compassion that comes through when working side by side each other. Michael volunteered in that capacity for many rotations, and I came to admire and respect him immensely in so many aspects. I am so very grateful to have known him. He will continue to be in my thoughts, as will you and Christopher during this difficult time. Please do stay in touch with us, and allow us to help however or whenever we can. The Angel Comes Just close your eyes, my tired one, Our peaceful journey has begun. Take hold my hand, and feathered wing, Lift up your heart to sweetly sing, Beyond the pain that holds you here, I'll guide your soul ... for heaven's near. Fear not, the brilliant lights you see, 'Tis heaven's trail, we rise to meet. Let calm and peace surround your heart, For never do we truly part. You leave behind on earthly plain, Your memories, for they remain Deep in the heart of those you love, A treasured gift from God above. The love and care you've given all, Will stay with them, for evermore; Within their hearts, you'll always stay, In prayer, one tender thought away. While in their time of deep despair, We'll travel 'mongst them unaware; Your presence felt by those will bring, A whispered touch, from new-sprung wings. For times they wish you to be near, They'll feel your warmth, your love, your care; A spark, in memory you'll ignite, To drift them off to sleep at night. A quiet touch, a lightened heart, Is how they'll feel your love impart; Beyond the bounds of heaven's door, With angels as you drift and soar. So gentle one, your time is here, I've come to take away your fear; This earthly body cannot mend ... Your suffering, is at an end. So take my hand, and follow me, To rest in peaceful harmony, Come soar with me above the clouds, To heaven's gate, where love abounds. Take comfort now, we've reached the light ... Your soul released, to angel's flight. /Kit McCallum |

I have followed this thread and the fading of the man it's about....I hope some day I have the grace that he carried with him through life, and I'm sure, on the continuing journey he is making now. There are gentle spirits in this world....far too few, but his is one of them. I won't use past tense for that -- because his spirit still is what it was when he carried it, and it carried him. I'm reposting a poem called Of Wasps And Roses....which was written for Michael....and which brought us to friendship at last, after a personal matter had held us apart for longer than either of us wanted. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I am so glad Michael had his family here at Passions... he loved you all... and he loved working as a Dep Mod too. He had the most integrity of any man I have ever known.. well, except my father. He was a good, honest, moral, devout man... and he gave me a wonderful son to help me carry on. God knew I would need Chris... Thank you Kit for that absolutely beautiful poem...I have saved that. I was just responding to some of my friends on my monkeeland.com board who said the same thing.. that perhaps Michael had wanted to hang on till the end of this year...to give us all a fresh start. I had thought that very same thing last night as I sat looking at his peaceful face. I do feel like I have an invisible family here at Passions... and I'm glad I got to know you all. I did reach Martie by the way, before she left. I told her I'd post the news here. I don't know what our lives hold in store now.. but whatever it is.. I know that Michael and Monty and my father will all be looking down from Heaven, guiding us, along with the Lord. I am so much richer for having known all three of those men. Michael was able to tell Angel before he died that he saw his parents standing beside God... their arms open.. and that Heaven was beautiful. I hope when it's my time to leave this earth, I look up and see Michael, Monty and my parents standing beside God.. welcoming me home. Thank you for all your prayers and caring and love. I will stay in touch, I promise. Love, Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

As I have read here silently, I have thought about what a wonderful man touched so many here... Even the slightest word he gave was encouraging and genuine, and even as a new person to Passions, I found a friend that spread a joyous robe across the world. Thank you Michael Auguste. It breaks my heart to know Michael is gone. But I know he is in the arms of our Lord. He has gone home to rest and his earthly body no longer suffers. He is free and flies with the angels. And know tht God holds every one of your tears in the palm of His hands. Mary, please know that although I do not know you personally, I am so impressed with your bravery and wisdom. You are an inspiration to all who have come in contact with you. Sending you loves and hugs .... Marti from the hills of NH. |

Your helping Michael through his last times was the most wonderful gift anyone could possibly give. Michael now takes his rightful place in God's tapestry and is now painting for Him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. |

Thank you all so much.. you say what is in my heart and mind so beautifully. Michael was the strongest man I've ever known. He cannot be replaced. I'd like to give credit to his niece Angel and sister Laura also.. especially Angel, she stayed with him when I couldn't. And he died in her arms. She was telling him at the time what I had been.. that it's ok to let go.. God was waiting... I guess he finally was ready. I wish I had been there, but I know he knows how I feel. We had said our good-byes. It must be glorious to be free of the earthly body and it's frailties and soar free like the birds. It's only us left behind we grieve for... Dear Mary: I didn't know Michael very well before I saw that first post telling us he had cancer. I started praying for him and you, at that time and read all his poetry and looked at his pictures. Who he was came through so beautifully in his work! How glad I am to have gotten to know him a little bit better and to share in this time with you. You have been wonderful about keeping in touch during such a difficult time. No one here will ever foget Michael, or you and Chris! God Bless. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

You are all so very caring... I love you all... One thing.. some of you I'm sure realize that Michael's real last name was not Auguste.. If you send flowers or donations.. please make for Michael Pruitt or else they may not be able to direct it properly. Thank you all so very much.. Michael does soar... I miss him so much.. selfishly... but I know he's so much better now... and I will be too.. someday. Love, Mary It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

walking the shore of the spirit's ocean I'll send a poem on Heaven's clouds to flow it will carry signs of my emotion you're free of pain and that's what really counts 't was time you drifted off to meet your Lord and at the end of Heaven's stairs you've mount you'll find the folks you always have adored together you will live in peace at last and you will smile upon all those you knew we will remember all your words from past when we will walk in early morning's dew in poet's hearts your memory will stay until we will meet again dear friend, one day My thoughts are with you and your son Mare in this difficult time. And it's a lovely thought as you suggested, that he waited for the last day of the year to meet his Lord. Part of Michael's name is still living on in the lamb I named after him (August)this early Spring. He has turned into a beautiful Ram. Titia Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

I will be posting some pictures of Michael that Mare would like to share in a bit, but I wanted to share an incredible story that Mare told me about Chris. For the purpose of accuracy I have simply cut and pasted it here for you. The background to this part of our conversation was that I was responding to the fact that Michael had died in the arms of an angel, (his neice Angel.) During his transition, he was sharing with Angel what he was seeing in his mind's view of heaven, and the people that were standing there waiting for him. It meant a lot to me to hear that. quote: Yes, and no, as now I realize even more that all things do indeed happen for a reason. |

Dear Friends, for those of you wishing to leave your note of sympathy to Mary and Chris on this sad day, there is now an online guestbook on the Savannah Now Newspaper site, in the name of Michael Nolan Pruitt. There is a photo album as well to take you to his words and art online. Entries will take a bit to time to appear. May Michael rest in peace. http://www.legacy.com/Savannah/LegacySubPage2.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonId=2992207 Mary and Chris, he is with you on this day, lean on him. Carpe' Diem |

I thought I would share this note I received from David (Lyra's husband,) with his permission as it was truly heartwarming. Hi Sharon, Thank you for all the emails through the holidays, and the ones concerning Michael. His passing has lead to a bit of a relapse on my part. I have been going thru Lyra's emails and poems the past few days, and some of Michael's as well. I think what struck me most was his signature on Pip that he also included in his emails. The stars will shine when I am gone, the earth will spin on as before, the gulls, still race along the shore, the morning star, still kiss the dawn. David |

I wanted to say that in going through some boxes.. I've uncovered some VERY old poetry of Michael's.. and mine.. Some written before we were married.. some right after.. It's not as polished and "correct" as his later works.. but it's still wonderful. When I can manage to do it.. I'll post some if you like... Love, Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

We are better than a week ago...when we lost him. We are having some in-law issues however.. which I won't go into on a public board.. but let's say that all people are NOT as they seemed... unfortunately. Michael would NOT be happy either. I am re-posting this July 2000 poem of Michael's about his mother's death. He told me over and over that I couldn't understand how he felt inside about losing his parents.. not until I had lost mine. Well.. he was right. I understand now. I can feel his pain in his words more vividly now... now that I've lost my father... and my husband.. and my first love. Three very different circumstances... but three very important people in my heart. I have been meaning to tell you all a little story... it shows how caring Michael was... and how he cared about me. I had burned the top of my right hand sometime before Thanksgiving...on the oven door. A pretty bad burn. When he saw it, he INSISTED that he become my doctor concerning that. Every day he would take my hand and massage lotion into that burn..."to keep it from scaring.. you have such pretty hands.. we can't let it scar..." he said. He would lovingly massage tons of that lotion into my skin...way more than was necessary, but he didn't understand that anymore.. and I was enjoying those moments so much, I didn't stop him. It was "our" time... well.. some of it anyway. He was MY doctor.. he enjoyed that...instead of always being the patient.. he was the care-giver for a little while. And all the loving attention he gave that burn.. helped, because there is no trace of a scar. I really thought there would be. He was proud of that. I will always remember that. Here's the poem: I Hid Her Pictures by Michael Auguste A flower must take just one last look At one more sun before it dies I wonder if that's how she felt I wish that I could search her eyes So often grief will try to win And try to blind my eyes with tears And now I stand here hurt again As I have been for many years Choke back the sobs, get on with life Although you feel so all alone Be strong for both your son and wife And remember you still have a home I so often in the mirror see Her face when gazing at my own Because I am her son, you see Aloud, I wish that I could moan I miss her smile so very much I miss her wisdom. I miss her scent I miss her guidance and her touch I miss the way her life was spent Deep sadness runs on little feet They seek the darkness of my heart And in a crowd do they all meet So they can rip what's left apart Confused and numb I wander on My father gone nine years before And now my mother, please no more I often feel so all alone Such loving things she'd tried to teach That I rebelled against in youth But now they're part of who I am Because I finally saw their truth I hid her pictures from my sight So stronger could I grow with years And find a room to lock this hurt So I could see, without the tears Her body turned to ashes be I carried them with gentle hands And cast them to the winds at sea And watched them fall upon the sands Nine years before I did the same With my poor father, bless his heart Now they're both just sea and sand And will forever be a part Sometimes I sit and watch the sea As starlight bathes me in the night I know they're there, just out of reach And will also be with coming light Though years have come and years have gone Forgetfulness they would not bring My heart has yet to find new song And my voice forgotten how to sing But strong I must be, this I know These tears in prison must I keep For if I let just one tear flow Forever do I think I'd weep ----------------------------------------- I will post some of mine too.. but keep in mind.. I was about 18 when I wrote them! It will be sometime this weekend... Love, Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

I hadn't read that one before...I'm glad I got to read it now. Thank you Mary for posting it. How sweet the story of him taking care of your burn like that. I bet it did do him a lot of good to care for you and yes, not to be the patient. But it sounds like it was very special time for the two of you... I'm glad you will be posting your stuff too! I'll be looking for it. |

Mare, I have not posted but once before on the threads for Michael because I felt others knew him so much better, but now after reading your story of Michael and then his words I just needed to say that even though I may not have been as close to Michael as some, I always enjoyed reading his poetry and viewing his artwork and his death has hit me harder than one might think. The poem Michael wrote reminds me of my best friend and in many ways brought back very peaceful memories. Thank you for sharing this again. Dawn |

Just found this in the archives... It's hard to read.. but yet... it comforts me. Michael Auguste's Eulogy by Michael One day the sea will know my bones, cremated ashes in its spray. Each pounding wave, a part of me, no longer will I’ve words to say. So while I’m here I’ll say them now. A eulogy, myself I’ll write. Who better knows yourself than you? Perhaps I can give some insight. Remember me when I am gone, but don’t let flowers die for me. Instead, plant some that they may live. It’s really how it ought to be. Don’t mourn my loss, but share your smile. Some favors I must ask of you. I lived my life as I saw fit and did the best that I could do. Please feed and hold a hurting child and be the strength for those in need. The clock is ticking, life’s too short. I hope to plant in you, a seed. A friend is such a special gift, like marriage, but without the band. Please let them know they’re dearly loved. Sometimes just simply hold their hand. Each day find something new to learn. Don’t waste your time with tv sets. Accept yourself for who you are and you’ll find you have few regrets. I’m ocean sands and salt and spray. My laughter rides on each wave’s crest. Do all you can for those in need. I always tried to do my best. Michael Auguste~ There is more depth to the heart than the mind can comprehend and it only has boundaries when we choose to fence it in. It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

I'm trying to convince Chris to post some of his poetry... he writes... but he's shy about people reading it so far.. he won't even let me yet! But I told him that all his Daddy's friends would just LOVE to read something written by him... So.. stay tuned. I will post some of mine probably tomorrow.. I posted one a long time ago here.. about Davy.. Kindof a look back at his life as a FTI (that's "Former Teen Idol") If you like I can post that one again.. I'm rather proud of it... along with my 18 yr old mushy love poems.. which were a reply to Michael's mushy 21 year old love poems to me! Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

I will encourage Chris to post... sometimes it takes awhile to get him to do things.. I have the old poems of ours in longhand.. so it will take me abit to transcribe.. but for now.. here's my poem about David (Davy) Jones...it's a reflective type...written from the perspective of him being about 80.. and looking back at his life. He's an amazing man...NOT just a former MONKEE. On several occasions when I've been talking to him.. he has mentioned Michael just out of the blue...they had met a few times.. had a few conversations back in the 80's and 90's... In 1994.. Michael, Chris and I went to see David in the play "The Real Live Brady Bunch" and afterwards when we talked to him, he walked up to Michael...shook his hand and said.. "Hey man.. you cut your hair!!" (David says "haah") They had not seen each other since 1989! In 2002, when I handed David a picture of himself on stage...one that I particularly liked.. for him to sign for me.. first thing he said was.. 'I think I look abit like your husband... especially right heah, around the haah.." I was amazed at his memory.. at that point.. he hadn't seen Michael in over 8 yrs... Michael must have made an impression on Mr. Jones eh? Anyway.. here's the link to my website page for the poem: http://members.tripod.com/rabeeon/mypoem.html Thank you all again for your wonderful support.. that was a great poem Mary. I enjoyed that. I hope Chris will decide to share his poetry with us. But when he is ready to is soon enough for me. I hope you get a chance to type up the older poems you have in long hand. |

Ah Mare, my hand is sore in thought of all of those you've written out by longhand. I think I am beginning to sense the effect of my age...I have relied so heavily on the keyboard for so many years... and yet, I would give anything for the time to compose poetry by hand... there is a certain luxurious feel to that medium...I think it gives our muses more time to think; I also believe that for those who are borderline or hard-core perfectionists, it gives them the "shakes" in case they make a mistake on the first draft...[and for those of us who hate to be wasteful, I'm not cutting down forests on the computer...] Yes, I will be very pleased to see both your poetry, as well as the poetry of your son, Chris. This is something I am looking forward to, not only in Michael's memory, but for the fact that we will have two new members contributing their hearts. |

Those old poems were from 1971 through probably 1977? Waaay before PC's! So.. long hand it was.. in fact, Michael had re-copied them from our loose sheets into a composition book later on.. not sure when. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem for David. I framed it...and sent it to him last Christmas... he stayed an extra day at his home in PA just to receive it. He was supposed to be in Florida but he delayed his departure just for little ole me...the sweetie. Here's a link to a pic of David and Michael in 1989...I think you'll love it. Michael had a "mullet" hairstyle then.. PLUS earrings!! It was a phase he went through.. http://members.tripod.com/rabeeon/davidmichael89.jpg Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Ok, here are two of 21 year old Michael's poems to me...simple... but heart-felt. We Shall Touch the Heavens By Michael Pruitt - 11/9/73 A love such as ours will never go astray The happiness we share, We'll share each passing day. Both of our hearts were formed By God, of earthen clay. Never again to wander, For at last we've found our way We shall touch the heavens, In a day to be. Our love will cause a gentle light, For all the world to see. Our lives are interlacing, Our dreams unruled by fate Closeness, when embracing, Our fears, no longer weight. I love you in the morning light, I love you in the setting sun. I love you, with a love that's right, But my love has just begun. Sweetheart, will you be my bride And help me to achieve my goal? Will you stand next to my side, To play out life's final role? Your Eyes Speak Silence By Michael Pruitt - 11/27/73 I love you - your life is divine. I love you- I'm yours, your mine. I love you in the stillness of night I love you beyond my sight. I need you - your eyes speak silence. I need your love so true, And in the world of violence Mary, I need only God and you. I'm late to this, I haven't been able to be on.. Im so sorry to hear about the loss, but I am happy that Micheal is with God, and that his loved ones were there to meet him. He will be there to meet you, Mary, when your times comes. Until then, he still lives through his poetry. Good luck with everything, especailly the poetry. I hope to hear you and Chris in the poetry pages soon. Michael would love that. God Bless Oh, make me Thine forever |

Dear Mary: Thank you for sharing these meaningful poems with us and the photos too. I'm sure there are so many sweet memories surrounding both. You know, I still write all my poetry in long hand first, even in this age of computers. For some reason I feel a closeness with what I am writing that I don't get composing in Word, etc. Old fashioned I know! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

He was always a romantic...and a very considerate man. I've typed up some more for you all.. get ready All but the last one are mine...some written for Monty, some for Michael. It was like Peyton Place there for awhile.. Enjoy... and remember.. these were all written in 1973-1974...when we were all alot younger! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Alone" (written for Monty) The stars stand out in the dark sky The wind whispers through the trees I close my eyes once again To be with you in my mind There is no one standing close now No more warming words to ease the pain Only loneliness engulfs me now As I think back to you Why hath God separated that Which we thought was one I do not question His wisdom now I only ache for you And if we never touch again How cruel can love be? I'll remember you throughout my life And the special moments we shared. 7-20-73 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Never Ceasing, Never Ending" (missing Monty) Teardrops fall one by one Flowing continuously forward Never ceasing, never ending Breaking from the soul. Pain that comes quick and fast Or sometimes slow and aching Tearing at my very soul Feeling the heart that's breaking Help me to bear this weight Give me the strength at last Stop the aching loneliness inside that dwells Each time I remember the past. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Love's Sweet Words" (For Michael) Gentleness abounds within, His deepened soul, my closest friend. Quietly begun one summer night Has grown so strong, We know it's right. Such closeness as was never known As love flourished, the seeds were sown One knows the other with heightened sense, Our sincere words with no pretense Rare is such warmth I feel inside Never known on the nights I've cried All the hurt and emptiness will melt After knowing all the love I've felt Dear God, please let it last this time A broken heart is such a crime Happiness is the only goal Which soothes my heart and makes me whole. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "No More Pain" (written for Michael) My love is my existence I did not live before feeling his gentle love My heart was aching for someone to want me Someone to love me in return This I have found at last In his beautiful deep eyes and tender hands He stands before me - the image of all I ever needed If I should lose him I will surely perish Keep close to me darling, and trust what I say I am drawn to you more and more each day Please love me always, as I will you For I could not stand the pain if you took your love away +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Reflections" (written for Michael) Sometimes my life resembles raindrops falling Each part contributing to a whole Every second that passes brings me closer Closer to knowing what my purpose is. Life is a puzzle, new pieces created every day For a long time, there was a big space In my life's puzzle Which is now filled by you. Bitter-sweet memories of our pasts do not matter anymore, Because together we shall create new memories to share Ones that will remain in our lives forever Even after our youth is gone. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Language, A Fond Embrace" (written by Michael a week before our wedding) What words are there, that can half reveal The love inside for you I feel? Language is but a fond embrace A kiss does little, but touch the face The earth is but a revolving star, A broken heart, a lonely scar I feel it with each breath I take I feel it in the darkest night And in the morning when I wake My love for you is ever bright I want to hold you in my sleep I want to dry the tears you weep I need to bear your weighted mind, For peace of heart, you deserve to find I shall not ponder on the past And wonder why it did not last I shall stand steadfast before the eyes of God And stand in footprints where He would have me trod A war rages mightily within my mind I fight for survival, lest I find Myself on knees as a coward be For all who care of me to see But I will not shelter from attack For courage is one thing, I do not lack I will not sacrifice self-respect For the one I love, I will not neglect She will be mine in a time to be, And all who thought different will at last see That happiness, I brought to her And a loving heart, that did not stir God grant us strength, when in the face Of boldest lies that cause disgrace And help us through this troubled time When life is no longer a nursery rhyme And keep our love as ever true, As the love inside our hearts for You. The stars that stand out in the twilight sky, In a billion years grow dim and die But the love we share will always be It will never wane or go astray And in the darkest day we'll see The love that God did bring our way It's Not About Age, It's About Life [This message has been edited by stilltogether (01-11-2005 12:54 AM).] |

Thank you Sea... I plan to frame that one actually! I was missing Monty because we had been together for about 10 days before he had to go back to his Air Force base in California.. a whole country away from me. We had been "going together" for over three years... talking marriage. But sooo very young. Michael was Monty's good friend... and was taking me out as a friend... to keep me company...and.. well...we fell in love. I felt so bad for Monty...and I have never stopped loving him...even now, I still do. But Michael bowled me over... Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

I got a card from a friend of mine today.. on the front it said... "What the heart has once owned...it shall never lose." - Henry Ward Beecher That struck me... right inside my soul. It is very comforting... Mare It's Not About Age, It's About Life |

Post it in Open Mary...that way more people will get to read you! I hope Chris decides to let us in and read him too. If he isn't ready just yet, that's ok too. I hope you both are finding the healing you need. |
