Today, Jimmy Carter turns 80.
And instead of retiring, he is out there in the world
doing what he's always done so well
negotiating, comforting, reaching out to people around the world
to make friends and defuse hot spots.

(and I was told I am very distantly relatedly to him...something about my Great Great Granny Carter, who moved to Texas by covered wagon from Tennessee...)
