I realise that I am taking up space at times, but I know that some of you like to be updated on my current state. I'm 36 weeks and 3 days today, and growing more miserable by the minute. Sleeping has become a distant friend to me, as with eating. I eat smaller meals, however they seem to give me no mercy when it comes to my esophagus. My last appointment was on thursday, I was given a group-b strep test, and an internal exam. I am effaced and her head is engaged. I still have at least 2 weeks left to go, but I find myself wishing she'd come sooner rather than later!  However, I know that the closer to 40 weeks she is in there, the healthier she will be..that alone is worth the wait and such. I will try to come back and update more on the baby, maybe she'll be born by the next update. You and I will not know until the time comes. In the meantime, thank you all for being so kindhearted and interested in the developement of my child. It's been a long, hard road..and I appreciate every word said to me on the journey. |

LOL...oh dear Meghan...you don't know what taking up space IS until you start lugging around everything you think the baby needs to be well cared for. I think of the toys and equipment new mothers and fathers get today, and remember when I was content to stack cans of fruit and veggies as play toys; wooden sticks became drum sticks and pots and pans were good enough to be drums...etc... A favorite fingertoy my mother devised was a little honey on my fingers and a large feather...  ...or allowing us to "try to pick up" a large icecube on our high chair tray...  ...hmmm, now that I think on it, do you suppose she had a mean streak? ...NahhhAs for your esophagus, I STILL maintain that a certain OTC tablet helped me loads...let me know and I'll send you the name of my suggestion if you haven't tried it yet... and I'm glad to know that you are looking forward to this wonderful event. It's going to take some doing, I know, but they are VERY worth it as you help them establish their destinies! |

If it were up to me, you would update more often! I cant WAIT for baby pics, too. I actually had a dream about babies last night. All laying all over my living room, one was trying to swallow a hairclip, and it had managed to chew it, (without teeth, don't you just love dreams!)and so i had to scoop out these bits of hairclip as gently as I could. I think that was an anxiety induced dream. Anyway, proud of you Meg, living on no sleep is hard at the best of times, but pregnant? I'd be a wreck. xxRaph, I just noticed, you're in Funkytown? That made me laugh, ever such a little bit. I don't quite know why. It just sounds, camp.  |

LOL, what Karilea says about space is true, especially for new first time moms, who somehow manage to haul half the house with them when they go out the door. After a while, you'll cut that load in half, but as for finding more space or time? We love the space you take up in here, and want you to use MORE, not less, according to your availablility. My daughter was born within four days of my doctor's 'target' date. Yours will arrive right on time. I think whenever possible it's best to let the baby pick the moment. |

Hang in there it won't be too long now Meghan. Ditto the space comment, the ritual that goes on when I have the two girls here is riduculous and you know, shhh, but I never bring most of it in even. They absolutely never play with one thing they bring, and enjoy the old-fashioned "give them one toy until they tire of it game," works just fine. At home, way too many toys, and too much to do - no respect, no interest. It takes approx. 15 or so minutes, to pack all their "belongings" back into the car, whereas when their Dad was young, no carseat, no toys. It was called a hip back then, and you improvised. I was not awake for my births, but saw my daughter-in-law give birth to Tori, and trust me when they tell you there is nothing like that experience, they don't lie! The second you see life, and know you did it, your life actually changes from that point on. This child is going to be so loved I can feel it already. Check back and take your space anytime you need to, this is the final stretch, and the worst of it, but soon over Meghan, and oh the reward.  Oh ... Did I miss the name selection process? Any ideas for her name or is that a "when I see her" thing? |

Actually, I'd like to thank you for these updates. They never fail to make smile and bring back the fondest memories of my life. (I was one of those annoying women who LOVED being pregnant.) I hope it's not too presumptuous of me, but I feel as though I'm waiting to meet an extension of a friend. Y'see? I just love babies.  |

Well, perhaps my little hormones are really getting the best of me. I just feel so BIG, in almost every aspect of the word. I'll have to remember the toy thing. I know that with cats, I never bought them toys, it always worked to roll up some foil and hurl it across the room. It kept them entertained for hours, if not days or weeks. I know it may seem like a bad comparison, but really, I think making things with your own bare hands for them to play with is not only safer (you make it, you know what's put into it) but it's also cheaper, and more efficient...hell, it might even be more fun. I remember when I was a kid, that the most fun I ever had was outside, playing in the grass and making mud pies. It was free, and dirty, what kid doesn't like mud? Further, what kid doesn't like earthworms and snails? My mom was very into nature and how it helps us to feel things, and learn about the world, our surroundings..she's got me thinking the same way. I think I'd like to take that approach rather than couping Freyja up inside with multi-colored plastic wheels. Alas, I live in the north, where it gets to be negative 20 degrees in the winter time, so it'll be awhile before I can really show her the true outdoors..but of course, there are so many options these days as to where we can go and explore. I'm already so excited about watching her learn about things, watching her expand as a human being. I even have a mathmatics board game, books of poetry and short stories, and several videos that incorporate classical music and various visual learning practices. I spent money on these things, not thinking about how they won't be of exquisite use until she's at least 2 years old. However, her mind is her most capable organ, and her learning things is most important to me. I want her to have those things in her mind, that way she knows enough about what she could love to do. Seren - You remind me of my mother in a lot of ways.. She LOVES babies, and she is actually more anxious than I am about the arrival. She wants to see her so much, and I think it's drawn our relationship closer than it's ever been. Thank you all for being interested, it is fun to update and let people know about my progress. I feel like I'm a mother already, and perhaps I am, but until she comes I have no clue what she'll be like. It's fun to use my imagination. |

I do hope and pray that everything goes OK with both your's and your baby's health, and that the hospital stay will be indeed be short. No worries about the educational devices. True, those 2+ can 'learn' more from them, but the majority of neuron, synapse, and general brain growth happens between birth and 2 years. We just recently had a birth here, and that little tyke is amazing. I'm just waiting until he's old enough to be able to hold a whistle: too large to eat, but small enough to use at 3 a.m.  |

Her name will be Freyja Skye. I was at war with myself for middle names - I changed it twice and finally settled on Skye because it's beautiful, and the name of a Scottish isle. Freyja is a Norse goddess, I knew her name would be Freyja the moment I found out I was pregnant.. I knew it'd be a girl. |
