Angels

I’m envious of angels
That they be given flight
While these feet are made of clay
Just doesn’t seem quite right

In search of an identity
Some have confiscated
A pretty-sounding title
To keep ego inflated

I shouldn’t envy these folks
Or the way they are perceived
For they’ve such slim resemblance
To angels, I believe.

For real angels are more than
Pretty images of fluff
They’ve more to do than flutter
Real angels must be tough!

They encamp about us
Guarding, strengthening
As we face adversity
Angelic hands don’t wring!

Avenging wrongdoings
A mighty power they wield
Legions of foes fall helpless to
An angel’s sword and shield

Angels give us shelter
Even in darkest night
We’ll never lose direction
With guide of angel light.

Recognizing angels
Is not an easy task
For so many mortals
Try to wear angelic mask

But angels are among us
Offering tender care
We may not always see them
But we sure know they’re there!

Our faults don’t deter them
They do not condescend
In truth, angels surround us
They’re brother, mother, friend.

I’m grateful for these angels
Regardless of their name
They are love in purest form
Not charlatans seeking fame

So disregard that envy
The fakes deserve no mention
The true angels in my life
Should have my attention.

And... since you're definitely one of those true angels... you have my attention today, dear lady... as I wish you a day filled with joy and a lifetime of happiness. *S*

Thank you, Susan! ~ and it was a very happy birthday! It started at 9:30 yesterday morning and went through to the wee hours of this morning! I even have 7 more dinners and luncheon birthday engagements over the next to weeks! It's a birthday that just keeps on giving and giving! lol Yeppers!
