NEW PROGRESS REPORT WITH PHOTOS- Prayer Vigil For Shelby |

***See this link at the bottom of this post. *****SEE THIS LINK FOR UPDATE AND NEW PHOTOS~ /pip/Forum3/HTML/003230-2.html#27 Friends~ My angelic niece, 5 year old  Shelby  has been diagnosed with Perthes Disease. Here is a link to read more of this medical condition. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/fact/thr_report.cfm?Thread_ID=159&topcategory=Hip Shelby and her parents live in Ohio and traveled to Tampa, Florida, last month where the leading surgeon for this medical condition practices at The Shriner's Hospital. Shelby was scheduled for surgery and will enter the hospital tomorrow and have surgery on Thursday. I know you will join me in prayers for Shelby and the surgeon who is performing the medical procedure. Please hold Shelby's entire family in your prayer vigil as we go through this ordeal. I will pray for her and hope she will be as lucky as I've been, because I recovered completely from Poly Arthritis in all my joints wich I had when I was six years old.  Muys Life on the internet begins at...90! |

What a precious little girl. God bless Shelby for she has a difficult row to hoe at such an early age in life. I will join hands with our fellow Pipsters in a healing prayer circle of love for her. I will pray for a successful and safe surgery and for her following treatments to be as painless as possible. Dear God, I pray that in time all will be well for that darling niece of yours. FriendsOfThePrayerCircle~ Little Shelby is now out of surgery and in recovery. The surgeon feels the operation procedure was successful and Shelby now faces a minimum of 8 weeks in a 'reverse horseshoe cast' from the waist down both legs. A tiny *smile* here, as Shelby wanted a pink and purple cast ... soooo, one little leg of the cast is pink and the other purple~ A wonderful woman who heard of Shelby has fashioned special clothes to fit over the cast and close with Velcro straps~ This world is so full of special people~  Shelby will remain in the hospital for about 10 days (hopefully less) ... and then her family will transport her via special van to accommodate her comfort for the trip back to Ohio. I will keep you wonderful folks posted as we follow Shelby's progress~ You kind replies here and the numerous letters to my email have been printed out for our little angel~ The Shriner's Hospital has Shelby's photo posted in her 'Grandpa's FEZ' ... yes, Scorpio ... they love their children to pieces in that organization~ Deep appreciation to each of you for continuing to hold Shelby in prayerful thought~ Praise be the the Greatest Physician ... our Savior, for the loving grace He has bestowed on our little girl~ *Huglets* ~*Marge and the rest of Shelby's family*~ |

Shelby Taulbe, five years old, from Columbus Ohio,was operated on Thursday morning in the shiners children's hospital in Tampa, Florida. She suffers from LCPD. This is "legg calf perthes disease". It causes the deterioration of the hip bone. SHELBY celebrated her SIXTH BIRTHDAY on Friday, July 16. The patients in her age group had a very nice party for her. This Shriners' hospital is one of the finest in the country. Shelby's operation was the cutting and stretching of tendons and muscle and placed in a half body cast with a bar holding her legs as far apart as possible for the next 6-7 weeks. This is extremely painful and when the time is up she will have to learn to walk all over again. Thank you all for your prayerful keep~ Please remember our little angel in continuing prayer vigil~  Heck of a way to spend ANY birthday ...~  With each new day ... My oldest son had this desease and was home schooled for a long time, but recovered without surgery and without a limp. I am so hopeful that this precious angel will also recover, though my prayers are with her and her family, and yes, she is a very brave yougster. Lots of love and hugs to Shelby. You are great!!! |
