Happy 4th of July (weekend) to all our American poets here!!! Someone told me you guys do your own fireworks in your backyards, having neighborhood competitions. (we don't do that here in my parts  ) Hope you all have a great one! |

Use to be, fireworks were everywhere. Now, they are generally at community organized, special events, to keep the dangers of manning and firing off one's own fireworks to a minimum. But in some states, they still sell them, by the roadside, and one can pick up everything from sparklers to "snakes", pinwheels to small exploding rockets. But the community events, organized to keep fingers on one's hands and fires at a minimum, well, there you see the bigger, more spectacular fireworks. And of course, TV is not without its own brand of showing several larger citywide and statewide events, complete with the Boston Pops Orchestra to accompany the merriment. Ah, neighborhood fireworks displays are not what they use to be...we have to rely on our "lightning bugs" to entertain us quietly... Happy Fourth, everyone. We still have a boatload of freedoms that others have yet to experience. |

Here it is legal to sell fireworks, legal to buy them, legal to own them, but you have to sign an affidavit saying that you agree you're only going to use them out of state. Meanwhile all the backyards are litup with 'em whilste the radio and television news is telling everyone the number to call at the police station to complain about the noise. Only in America!  |

I live in Florida and here it is legal to buy fireworks, you just can't buy the ones that go up into the sky. People still do it anyway (including me...  )Don't Tell!!  lol!Happy 4th of July to everyone once again! ~Alli~ |
