Dear friends,
Sorry this update has taken so long but we didn't really know much before. The neurosurgeons at Royal Children's Hospital have decided that medication is not going to stop the seizures and as Jay is losing short term memory skills and cognitive abilities he will need the surgery.
The surgery is scheduled for the 13th July 2004 and after this there will be critical period of forty eight hours. If he survives this and wakes up during that time there is a good chance he will come out of the surgery with no side effects or loss of brain function. Please pray for Jay and us on the week up to and during the surgery. The surgery takes about seven hours all up and Jay is due to go to theatre at 2pm. and they expect him out about nine. My dad had two separate brain surgeries, and I remember the toll they took on our family... You have my thoughts, and prayers for as long as you want them.

I cant imagine what youre all going thru, none of us can unless we have been there...but I do know his mom is one strong and wise cookie... with a huge heart.

I ditto what everyone else! My wife recently had spinal surgery and it was the scariest day of my life. She was in th OR for over 7 hours. I was a basketcase the whole time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Jay. May God grant your every wish.
