I came upon this link while doing some research on the web that I thought might be of interest to fellow U.S. citizens interested in keeping abreast of current issues and having your voice heard on the "Hill". There are petitions that you can sign if you wish, informative articles and links to contact your Representatives, etc. http://www.americanpolicy.org/default.htm We have a representative republic. Let's avail ourselves of its rights, priveleges and blessings, and not take it for granted, losing it through apathy, or from being uninformed on the issues. Too much is at stake. Posterity, you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. - John Quincy Adams |

You're welcome, Betty Lou and Marge. I think it is of utmost importance to keep ourselves on top of the issues, let our representatives know where we stand on the issues and how we want them to vote. If enough people did this we would have a real voice in government, one that might even compete with all the special interest lobbyists. And at the very least, our "representatives" won't be totally clueless when they are voted out come election time. We, as a country, have many enemies. Apathy is probably one of the most dangerous. From our Founding Fathers to our present day armed services members, too much blood has been shed in preserving our liberties. Let's make sure that it hasn't been shed in vain. The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government, are justly considered deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people. George Washington, First Inaugural Address April 30, 1789 |
