Well Rosemary had her double ice-cream and is going for another, and Martie... the wait, (I can see now) was understandable, and also well worth it. Maybe a little late... but I wanted to add another great GREAT NAME in helping it all happen... and that’s our very own Ron Carnell, and might I add... Passions in Poetry and Netpoets are both mentioned in the book. Big thank you Ron. BTW... when is that book coming anyway..? dale, and here’s the info. ABC’s of Grief A Handbook for Survivors Christine A. Adams The ABC’c of Grief: A Handbook for Survivors meets bereaved persons wherever they might be in the grieving process, providing snatches of meaning, hope, empathy, and understanding. The handbook is a product of the author’s own passage and includes materials collected over a three-year period of the grieving process. Confronting her loss, Christine Adams found that it is all right to grieve at her own pace: one day at a time, one thought, word, and letter at a time, she grew and healed. The handbook’s alphabetical format allows readers, or group leaders, to focus on any aspect of grief that suits them. If a reader becomes absorbed in “anger” or “anxiety,” he or she can go back to reread those parts of the handbook and with each visit will find some new realization and meaning. Every section contains appropriate quotations, stories, and poems, written by survivors who found solace in writing. Counselors, therapist, social workers, and clergy will find the ABC’s of grief of tremendous value to their clients. In addition, every hospice would benefit by having a copy of the handbook in its library. APPROX. 156 PAGES, PAPER, ISBN: O-89503-243-0, $24.95 Visit our web site or contact Baywood for information on availability. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Complete book information at http://baywood.com or you can E-mail: [email protected] or FAX: 631.691.1770 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I must say I am very impressed that these poet, which we know right here at Netpoets & Piptalk (to me it will always be, ‘Passions’ in poetry, have gotten themselves in with such a prestigious publishing company. Martie said: quote: LOL. Seems like I've heard that from one or two poets in OUR anthologies, too. These things just aren't quick enough to suit most of us. Tell them just how long it took, Martie, so our people in Reflections will have a little more patience with me. ![]() I think we should push this book a little bit at the main site, too? The more successful the book is, after all, the more successful the individual poets will be. Unless someone has an objection, maybe I could put a link to the amazon.com page on the same page as Rosemary's, Martie's, etc poetry at the main site. Those who find your poetry at Passions would then know where to get more of it. What do you think? |

Ron...Hi! What a wonderful idea! Thank you for this. The support would be wonderful. The reason for doing it was to give some solace to others suffering grief. I think to add he link (ah humm, to my one poem) would be great...but I can't speak for Rosemary. Thank you for replying to this, it makes me see again, that you aren't just a name, but a caring and loving person. |

Well well, I can say from this side that Rosemary won't mind... I mean it's pretty plain to see that this Christine Adams has been looking at passions for more than a minute. I think the link is a great idea. Does Amazon care..? (legalities) But they are into selling aren't they..? (making money) that part seems simple. What's really nice Ron is; your dream is actually materializing and I thank you for being part of it. We may not know it, as it seems so much of our poetry just goes by without being noticed, no critiques and such but if you Pipper's notice this stuff (that Christine dig up) came mostly out of the Archives. I think I can safefully say.., Passions, Netpoets, Piptalk is the largest online poetry book available anywhere. I don't know how many I speak for.., but I for one would like to be noticed and I am fully with Ron on this one... You got our vote Ron. Lets get moving. ![]() dale [This message has been edited by lucky (08-02-2003 08:50 AM).] |

Hi Ron, I appreciate your thought of putting a link to amazon.com. I've been reading the book, and I do think Christine Adams did a good job. My purpose for agreeing was also, like Martie, to reach out to others in grief. Before I agreed to have so many (13) of my poems in her book, I went to amazon.com and purchased several of her other books to see how she writes. I like this one the best yet. Ron, you deserve more credit than you get, I believe. Christine found four of the poets she includes in her book, right here! She read extensively here, searching for poems about grief, written by people who had been there, and survived. Three cheers and a gold star for you Ron! (I taught children for fifteen years, and this is my way of expressing my highest praise!) You have a fantastic and unsurpassed site here! It is, and has always been since its inception in 1998 when I first found it, the most user friendly, and appealing poetry site on the net. And somehow, this enormous "family" of poets has grown to be friends, and turned out to be some of the nicest, warmest people on earth. All right here! Now, thanks to YOU, many people will find comfort... this book is designed for people in grief, published by a textbook company, and headed for hospices, hospitals, nursing classrooms, etc. I'm honored to be in it, and grateful to God for you, and your wonderful brain child, Passions. . The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G. [This message has been edited by Rosemary J. Gwaltney (08-02-2003 11:38 AM).] |

Okay, I've started making changes at the main site. All applicable pages in our Sad Poems - Loss from Death category now include a link to the book at amazon.com. Note that in this particular section, I've added the link not just to the individual poets, but also to the main pages with the list of available poems. Since the book is directly related to this category, it made sense (and gave me a chance to display the cover). You can find a slightly different sidebar on the individual poets' pages from the link above. I'll be adding basically the same thing to the poets' pages in our other categories over the next few days. ![]() BTW, another author in this section would have been invited to participate in the book, but in spite of my best efforts, we were never able to contact her. Keeping your email address current at the main site (and in the forums, for that matter) is important! p.s. I've already ordered MY copy. |
