I’ve just spoken on the phone with our friend, SuperDave.  He’s given me an update on Lyra’s condition and asked that I share it with the rest of her Passionate poetic friends.

Lyra spent the last couple of days in the hospital, and returned home yesterday - she can surely rest more comfortably there.  It seems that her most recent plight has been some serious swelling in her legs due to carcinomatous pressure on her abdominal veins.  She’s taking several medications, including blood thinners to prevent clotting.  She’s also been recuperating from a recent bout of radiation in her jaw and neck, and still has some back pain from an unrelated injury. The hospital has now begun daily home hospice support, and is giving her every consideration to ease her discomfort,

Lyra is still planning to see some of us for her birthday, in case anyone else can get away.  A few of us will be visiting with her sometime during the week of April 21-27th… The specific time and day aren’t determined yet, as we need to know everyone who’s coming before finalizing.  She’s dearly hanging on to our promise of a Passionate birthday party…  and I’ll be there with bells on.  Anyone else able to join?

Lyra is a wondrous lady.  She has some good days and some not so good ones.  Dave feels she’s hanging on like a trooper.  Throughout her illness, she has drawn much strength from our circle of Passionate Prayers, and she could use more… Let’s gather round for her folks.  Today, tomorrow, and anon...

Thank you (and Dave) for the update. She will be in my thoughts and prayers. This is the best place to come to get love and support and 'chipmunk hugs'.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Dave, thank you so much for the update, dearest friend, I was getting worried sick! (sad sigh) I send this healing angel her way to purify her heart and soul with healing and light and love with comfort! (wipes tears)

We all keep praying for her, sweet friend, God Bless You, and God Bless You for being at her side every day and telling us of how she is!

O God, in our hearts, we name Lyra who is facing illness and pain. We join our prayers with the prayers of all who love her. Give her renewed comfort and courage. Guide the hands and hearts of those who are entrusted with her care. May the knowledge of Your love and ours give added hope to her and to her dear ones. To the sweetest Chipmunk I know (And I know many!),
Please know that I think of you often and pray for your health and courage. I miss your poetry and your banter. I will be in Michigan in May for one of my boys weddings. I hope there is a few hours that can be chiselled out to spend time with you. Hang in there.
