The orthodpedic surgeon finally got around to looking at my x-ray today... and I will be seeing her tomorrow morning. It looks like I will be having surgery to strengthen my leg, so that the bones will knit together before I have radiation. They are worried that the bone is not strong enough right now, to take the radiation. I will most likely be having this surgery on Thursday or Friday, and it will probably, but not necessarily... be outpatient, unless there are any complications. They are just going to put some re-inforcing screws in it, so that I will set off any metal detector I walk through.  I talked to my radiation oncologist this afternoon and he thinks I may be recovered from the surgery in time to go to the poet meet in Tampa... but nothing is certain yet... It sure will be fun setting off those metal detectors if we have to fly  I will continue to update everyone as I learn more... Lyra |

Karen... Thanks so much, I need all the love and prayers I can get... I am taking some pain meds now and I keep making spelling and typo errors, b/c I'm not thinking straight. I'm also in a lot of pain.  Thanks for your confidence in me, Barry... You might be right but the way I feel right now at this moment... I don't think this chipmunk could even pick acorns... Karilea... Thanks so much for the hugs and prayers and especially for the bossy attitude... If I put it together with my bossy attitude... This disease won't know what hit it!!! Right now, I have all of those doctors eating out of my hand because they all said it was just muscle pain... and not only is it a metasteses, but it was serious enough to break my leg. The truth is though... that its actually a very small metasteses but its in a very bad place. Its amazing how important our femurs are and also how delicate they really are.  Mr.Squirrel... thanks so much for that delicious idea... but I think I am probably going to be awake for this and they will probably give me a spinal...but I don't know that for sure just yet. They might also give me something to relax me, in an iv...maybe that has an acorn flavor to it... I will ask.  Thanks so much, Sue... I will continue to keep everyone posted here... If you don't see anything, its because either nothing is happening or I am too knocked out on pain pills to type  Lyra |

I will be having the surgery tomorrow (Thursday) morning, and I'll be in the hospital for about 3 days.
