Hi everybody...I heard from Michael's wife, Mary. For those of you who don't know, he had surgery today for lung cancer. They removed part of his left lung. She said that the surgery was successful and that the other lobe of the lung appears to be cancer free. He is in a great deal of pain, but that is to be expected. Now it is a matter of waiting for the biopsy results that they will be doing on each node of the part they removed. This will determine whether the cancer was contained within that part of the lung that was removed, or has spread further. He still needs all your prayers and best wishes...so keep it up. I'll keep you posted as I know more.

Hi all

I'm just going to paste the email I got from Michael's wife here...

"He's alot better today. They moved him from Intensive Care to a private room though it's in the cardiac unit of the hospital. His heart rate had them abit concerned so they are monitoring it for awhile. But the pain is alot more under control today. He even stood up for a second today.

The morphine makes him abit groggy and it's sometimes hard to understand him when he talks because of that but it's ok.. he's doing much better than last night.

So still thankful for the second chance he's been given!"

Keep up all the good stuff that's going his way..or is that coming his way??

Thank you so much for this info. I am only on the board a few minutes a day now, as I am leaving Alaska on June 21, just after midnight, but won't be having my own email connection for several weeks. But I will send my best healing wishes daily for Michael, the old fashioned way....via heart and soul and the heaven's above. May your spirit continue to soar within this realm, sweet Michael, and may Mary and Chris stay strong.

Well this is definitely one big hurtle over for Michael, and now we will just have to pray really, really hard for continued good news. This all sounds very positive, and I hope he is keeping his spirits high, for that has always been his buoy. Praying for you Michael.

Michael gave me permission to post this letter from him.

"Dear Martie,

Both the doctors and I are very pleased at how well I've progressed since surgery. Other than the racing heart and continued fever, there is nothing impeding my recovery. As of now my fever has dropped to 99 from 103. Best news of all is that I'm continuing not to smoke!

I have been on oxygen ever since the surgery. Not sure if I'll continue that at home for awhile or not, but I'll do whatever the doctor orders. I've been hallucinating the past few days, probably due to the morphine, lack of sleep and the prescribed drugs. Though not bad .. it's there all the same and that bothers me.

I will be back with you as soon as I can. I am still very ill and very sore. It may be awhile before I'm back online.."

All of my prayers and thoughts are with Michael, and I have been thinking about him for several days....

I just know that with everyone praying so hard for him and with his fighting spirit, that he will be okay...
