As some may have noticed, the forums have been down for most of the past four hours. Athena, our poor little web server, got hacked tonight about 7 p.m. EST and was being used against other servers in a DoS attack. The NOC disconnected her from the Internet as a first line of defense, but then had to ferret through the whole system to insure no back doors were left behind. Very time consuming, very frustrating. But - we're back now. My apologies to all who might have suffered a few withdrawal symptoms this evening.  |

Geeze....some people, eh? Glad they got Athena back up and running, and I hope they can find that little weasel and beat seven shades of hell out of him. |

Withdrawal symptoms ???? Who US ? Us passionate poets ? LOL~  My e-mail volume picked up by about 6% ... of course most of it was from members wanting to know if I knew what was wrong at Passions !  Most of them were certain there MUST be something wrong with their computers. And I *giggled* out loud at trying to explain how you 'jump-start' Athena~ And now to find out she was 'gang-hacked' Oh ... the indignity of it all~ Poor baby~ Seven of us openly confessed to being slightly 'addicted'~ And the other four ... well ... they actually discovered there was OTHER LIFE out there in the night~ Glad all is well with our gal~ Thanks for the info, Ron~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ |

Ron, I was suffering, but only for a while. I was really worried, and concerned that your server may have beeen attacked. I never realized what a lifeline Pips is for me, though I suspected all along that "it" had become an integral part of my daily life, and I do not want to be without it! My 14 yr old said, "Oh, don't worry mom, it will be back up again soon!" From what well does she draw such optimism? LOL. Thank you, Ron. You are a magician to me. Ron, Thank you for letting us know. I went into a mini-panic.. and withdraws.. lol. I managed to keep calm.....and did a dance of joy when Passions worked again. I don't get angry too easily - You, more than anyone, know that, Ron... This was a personal passionate affront, though - ya know? What kind of a person does such a thing? or creates a virus that affects people all over the world? and for what purposes? .. just so they can say they did?.. I'm sorry you had do deal with this, m'dear... and glad it's over..  |

Learned a long time ago that if PiP didn't PoP right up...it would come back, sooner or later. But the crime behind this is reprehensible, to say the least. I do believe I need that bar of soap for those nasty hackers...ah, here it is...  and if a first going over doesn't do it, perhaps a second time will do...You've given us a marvelous "second home" Ron...may all of us be around for a long, long time... |

I had to go into the fridge and eat all the chocolate I had left (ooh, one whole sqare) I was so depressed. I'm kidding!
