I'm glad you posted this, Karilea.
I went yesterday with a friend of mine, and
they were so swamped they were having people
sign up and leave their phone numbers.
They will be calling us later to set up an
appointment. The outpouring of support from
people all across the country has just been
incredible, and there will continue to be a
need for donations for quite awhile I'm sure.
This is something that we can ALL do to help.

I think it would be good to wait a day or so, if they do get blood donations there is no way except military flights to get the blood to NY or DC.

Also - if you are in line for surgery, it might be a good idea to blood bank for yourself. Check with your doctor first.

Central Florida Blood Bank has been working overtime on this effort.
The response has been tremendously uplifting.

In excess of 600 units were sent to the Washington and New York areas by courier.

We all can make a difference.

It might be a good idea to call your local Red Cross to schedule a time to do this. . . so that they are not too overwhelmed. . .

You can also call 1-800-448-3543 to donate cash as well. . . the money will be used to fund relief efforts in New York. . .

With my recent tattoo, I'm unable to donate. When it's been a year, I'll donate for just because.
