As Ive said before music is a universal language; one that no one has to learn, its just there for everyone to be apart of...as a writer, as a poet, I find myself focusing not on the melody, or the harmonys, not even the beat...but the words, the LyRiCs... So tell me, what type of LyRiCs made you cry, scream, laugh, sigh, or maybe just made you think! Here are some of mine: ~There was a boy, a very strange enchanted boy; they say he wandered very far, very far over land & sea; a little shy, and sad of eye, but very wise was he. And then one day, one magic day he passed my way, & then we spoke of many things, fools & kings, & this he said to me: "The greatest thing, you'll ever learn, is just to love & be loved in return..." Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" ~We built our church above the street, we practiced love between these sheets; the candy sweetness scent of you, it bathes my skin abstained near you. And all I have to do is hold you, theres a racing within my heart, yet I am barely touching you. Turn the lights down low, take it off let me show you my love for you Insatiable; turn me on never stop want to taste every drop, my love for you Insatiable. Darren Hayes's "Insatiable" For in much wisdom is much grief |

love the first song, haven't heard the second. just an FYI - we have to be careful how much of a song/book/poems/etc. we quote. permissible use as defined by copyright laws is somewhat ambiguous, so please choose wisely when quoting something. Thanks Christopher |

First, I'll ditto Christopher. Second...for me, music has always been as important as food. I cannot seem to remember a day without music. Truly. Then...music, alone, is wonderful. It allows you to put your own words in. But lyrics...wow! They can be the way you feel wound around the way you want to feel. Especially lyrics that have soul in them, such as the one you pointed out from Nat King Cole! Today's music, or at least a good portion of it, is not intended to really get the lyrics across, as much as the beat of the drum or sound of the guitar. Which is a shame, because sometimes really good lyrics can be overshadowed by the music. But combine good lyrics and a good strong composition, and you have magic |
