Well, it seemed fairly reminiscent of Asimov to me, but I really want one of the video tattoos! So what are the odds on these kinds of things? http://www.msnbc.com/news/710508.asp?pne=msn [This message has been edited by Christopher (02-21-2002 05:46 PM).] |

Odds? I'm not exactly a betting sort...but moving tats? I thought those were the kind where the um, rear end was drawn strategically over a guy's muscle, so he could flex and have her shake her, um, assets...??? (okay, okay, I'll go count my gray hairs instead, old lady, me...) |

Now that's just not very progressive is it... We all must remember Orwell here...and maybe Nostradamus? HAHAHA...not to mention those who proclaimed we would never fly... Odds...who can say C, what are the odds for anything? K |

They claim an 85 percent success rate for Pearson, but if you look at his predictions for 1999 to 2001, you have to really wonder how that number was computed. Or did I miss the emotional jewelry and personality badges in 2000? It looks to me like 2005 is when we turn the corner from science to science fiction. Computers that write their own software? Intelligent robotic pets? Full voice interaction with machines? He has a lot more confidence in programmers than I do. Shoot, I'll be happy in 2005 if I can just keep Windows up for more than six hours at a time. |

you ARE a cyber-babe doreen! personally, i wasn't all that hot about some of the 'impending' "advances" anyway - will we reach a point where we stop thinking for ourselves...? still - none of it really sounded all that far-fetched in the long run (if not soon) - science fiction from 40 years ago had most of that stuff already. (lol - which is kind of the point of sci-fi, now isn't it?) good response Ron - one i wholeheartedly agree with! |
