Im just wondering if anyone here is in the Service??? I talked to a recruiter today about going into the AirForce. And I really think I want to go and everyone thinks that its a really good idea. I mean I dont have anything going for me in life right now but I want my familys support and my dad just wont budge. It just really upsets me that he isnt behind me. He says that I think its the good thing for me but its not. I know Im old enough to make my own decisions but I want to know that people are behind me in my decision. If you want something very badly, set it free. If it comes back to you, its yours forever, if it doesnt, it was never yours to begin with" |

I am not in the service...but.... My daughter joined the Air Force when she was 20. It was an incredible experience for her. She grew in ways that we never expected!! She got an education out of it on the GI bill. She was in the service for 7 years (got a nice bonus to sign up for a second term) and after she got out, she went to college and got a degree. She also got a husband (Air Force men outnumber women 6.3 to one). He's a wonderful young man - and very good to her. She met some wonderful people from all over the country - living in the service you meet others from everywhere and there is no room for prejudices (she lived in a coed dorm). She continues to have these friends today, though they are all scattered around the world. She found the Air Force gave her a sense of order at a time when she needed it. And she got to do things and go places she wouldn't have if she hadn't joined. Since she got married in the service, she wasn't able to go overseas to serve (it's hard to place TWO people at once). So if you are alone, you would have a better chance of seeing the world. She gained a whole new perspective on her patriotism too. Serving your country is an amazing sacrifice. I would be proud of you if you decide to join. And if you don't? Then I'd still be proud of you - you are thinking about your future - exploring all angles - and I'm sure you'll make the right one for you. Please let me know what you decide. |

Do what you want to do. It's your life, you only live once. That is my advice. ~~Jeff~~ |
