What is your fondest childhood memory? Sometimes we get so bogged down in the daily grind of life that we don't get the chance to reflect on our happiness. We see a young child playing with a puppy and we smile, say how cute it is, then chase them outside to play because we're too busy. My 21st birthday is fast approaching, much faster than my family (especially my parents!) want to admit, and I've been wondering what stories my Dad is going to tell at my party to embarrass me!

I've had so many wonderful times during my childhood (even though it wasn't that long ago!) that it's hard to pin down just one. But one that really sticks in my mind was when I was ten years old. We'd moved about 1500 kilometres (2400-ish miles?) to another state, where I didn't know anyone, for Dad to start a new job. When we got to our new home, the most amazing thing happened... for the first time, I had my own room! It was tiny, with horrible blue flowered wallpaper, but it was mine! And I was ecstatic. I had sleep-overs with my friends and played with all the toys I wanted when I wanted to. I did everything in my room. I've never had to share a room with my sister since, and now I share a unit with my boyfriend, but I'll never forget my very first "my own room".
