Many people ask about the history of Passions in Poetry and the PiPTalk Forums. Sunshine suggested we write a 'history' and place it where new members can read it, thus giving them a sense of who we are and how we came to find this wonderful place.

Some of the history, of course, will be poetry - if you've written a poem about Passions or want to, please post it here. If you'd like to tell us how you found the forum and/or main site and what Passions means to you, please post it here. In doing so, you give permission for Ron to use all or part of your post on the history page.

To get us started, here is mine, written some time ago in Prose:

I wrote my reasons for joining the passions family in the form of a poem when I reached one thousands posts.  Sorry, I tried to put it in the form of a hyperlink but it wouldn't work!

  Passionate Island

One day as I was surfing,
I was carried to a shore
Onto a lovely island
With so much to explore

At first a little timid
I hid myself from sight
And watched the natives from afar
(Afraid that they might bite!)

The great and fearless chief
As kind as he was wise
Stood guard off in the distance
With a vision in his eyes

I studied all their rituals
And learned to speak their tongue
So thirsty for the passion shared
Between the old and young.

Hungering to join them
Starving to belong
I wandered to their welcome fire
And sang their tribal song

Such emotion filled the air!
Until the day was done
Chanting with a single voice
Thousands, though as one

And though I tend to drift away
To other foreign places
I always float back with the tide
To these familiar faces.

This island is my haven
A home without a wall
Where I can visit anytime
Encircled by them all!

“A home without a wall,
Our haven without ends,
A circle we all call
Our Family of Friends!”

I think this is a wonderful idea!  Seems I enjoy this place a lot Sharon, LOL ... I've written a "few" of my thoughts about Passions down at different times, and I'd love to share them again if any would be appropriate ...

Here's my first post at Passions. . . way back in Open 4

The Bridge Across Forever

And here's the story of how I chose my User Name. . .

How Sven chose his name

And one more. . .where I (and several of my fellow poets) find our inspiration. . .
