At the end of next month, a millionaire from California is going to be the first 'tourist' in space. He gets to go on a space shuttle mission. He and his family had to sign legal documents stating they will not sue the U.S. Government if something happens. He also has to promise not to 'break anything'. My question: Would you like to go on a space shuttle mission? If so, why? If not, why not? |

I would absolutely go!!! Last August I got the chance to spend a week at Space Camp Canada located in Quebec. My nephew won the trip which included 9 of his friends and myself. It was worth $10,000. During our week there we learned about everything there is to know about space and flying the space shuttle. At least as much as one can learn in a week. We eat space food, tried all of the simulators required by real astronuats to practise in and even flew to missions in "real time" in the Challenger. Each child was assigned a position and had to learn it completely. I was Payload specialize 1. Whhich meant I had to go out of the Challenger and fix a satelitte in less then 10 minutes by using the Canada Arm. In all, it was a tremendous learning experience and it really gave the kids a great sense and respect for what real astronauts go through. Anyone who has any interest in Space should try a program like this. So to answer your question Sharon...YES!!!!!  It is a blessing to have wings for words, and passion in pen |

YES!!!! Space has always been one of my hobbies and interests. . . ever since my Dad bought me my first telescope at age 9. . . I've always loved and wanted to go out there. . . see what it's like. . . To see the stars up close. . . I'm just sorry that it probably won't happen in my lifetime. . . but wouldn't it be cool??? To see the planets, to discover new worlds, new stars. . . what a voyage!!!! ------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. YEP! Space is awesome......so vast....so ...erm....yea so VAST....so yea I'd be up there in a jiffy!  I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

It would be too time-consuming. If I want to see endless dark, I'll close my eyes. If I want to see endless dark with stars backdropping it, I'll bang my head against the wall repeatedly and close my eyes. That way I even get the weightlessness effect as well.  "Look, Mommy! The ultimate experience, eh?... I have to say I'd love it... Of course - If you've EVER had the awe-inspiring fortune to be present at Cape Canaveral when a shuttle was launched... and watched that rocket take off...YIKES I've never experienced anything to compare to it.... It's a pretty scary thought to think that those crazy astronauts are sitting comfortably above that flaming torch as it climbs at 6000 miles/hour - It's a good mile in the sky before you hear a sound - Then the earth shakes under you...
