I was talking with someone about school. I just graduated and may be on my way to college. I was just wondering what was your favorite class and why? And what class did you hate the most and why? To be fair since I am starting this topic I will say mine. Favorite: Sociology because the teacher made it really fun. I learned things that made me look at life differently. And because I made a really good friend, the teacher. Least Favorite: Geometry because I had a really tough teacher that made it impossible to learn the stuff and I almost didnt graduate because of it. |

An excellent idea Erin! I'm glad you thought of this...Here's mine...even though I'm still in school hahaha it sucks!! favorite: I'd have to say yearbook, being the senior edidtor is hard work, but at the end of the day it is a release b/c I don't have to be so stressed and My advisor is the best!! Aside from that I have 2 great editors by my side. Least favorite, American Literature, not because I hate the class, I love Literature...hated my teacher. Always had a stick up his ass...(yuck!) hehe, and he hated me, maybe it was cuz I talked so much...? ~*~sMiLe! It MaKeS yOuR bUtT ShInE~*~ |

Hi Erin ... fun topic, you made me do some walking down memory lane. Favorite: English, no question! I adored it, loved it, could have been in that class all day long. I was so lucky to have some fantastic teachers who really got you involved, made you proud of your accomplishments, and really encouraged everyone. And sorry, but I'd HAVE to pick 2 here. Art is my other favorite. Anything from painting to sketching to sculpting ... couldn't get enough of it! [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (07-12-2007 04:31 PM).] |

Kit~I love playing with numbers as long as it doesnt have to do with geometry. As for English I liked that class to. It got intresting as the years went by. But art I had to take the 2 years in a row just to get one credit (im not to good with drawing). So if I was on the board of education I would make art an elective so you could take it by choice. Thanks all of yous for sharing!! |

hmmm...favourite subject... Well...I actually have three... 1: English - and I don't think that it's any suprise that a lot of people have put that...I wonder why... 2: Science, in particular Bio and Chem, my teacher is soooo sweet she's this little British lady and she makes everything fun. 3: Music - music is one of the most expressive subjects you could take (on a par with English and Art, I take all three but find that Art is a pain in the ass), that and the fact that my teacher is a real hunny. Least favourite? 1: Math - any form or shape 2: Social Studies - I have an accounting teacher for Social Studies (don't ask me why) and she has no idea what she's talking about - she thought I MADE UP the Hindenburg disaster. 3: PE - mainly because my teacher is such a....(I'll leave you to fill in the blanks with that one) This was a really cool idea by the way. **I didn't loose my mind it was mine to give away** ~Robbie Williams~ |

The three years I've been in Michigan is the longest period in my entire life I've gone without taking a class somewhere. And that's only because the nearest University is over an hour away. I took the same exact Creative Writing course, with the same exact instructor, at Cal State Irvine for four years straight - and I got something new out of it every time. I LOVE the stimulation of a classroom. Favorite subjects? Math, most Sciences, Art, and of course English (and pretty much in that order). Least favorite? Law and Psychology, I guess (for entirely different reasons). In truth, while I've had classes I didn't like, I don't think I've ever had a subject I didn't enjoy. I'm curious. For those who have been to college, plan to attend college, or just plain would like to go to college: What kind of majors do we have (or will have) out there in Poetry Land? |

Well I didn't hit college so this is from H.S. My Fav's were: Math (algebra) and in Jr. High I took 2 years of typing. I love to type. I was also very good at spelling. Least Fav: History and English. Oh and Ron, I swear I'm not following you around the forums LOL. [This message has been edited by WhtDove (edited 10-02-2000).] |

For some reason I loved psychology too. I took a home study class for that to make up a credit that I needed. It was a very intresting subject to learn as well as sociology. Thank you all for sharing. Ron~I am thinking of going to college Im just not sure of what I am gonna study yet. I want to major in psychology. But Im not to sure yet. Okay, what the heck! In high school, my favourites were undoubtedly Biology, Man in Society, History and English. Ron ~ After high school, I took Bachelor of Social Science at Ottawa University, majoring in Criminology. My best courses there? Obviously I enjoyed most of the Crim courses, though some were pretty dry. The best elective I took was Elements of Fiction. The analytical side of fiction writing. Wow! But the best all around was Deviant Psychology... fascinating stuff. I'm currently studying Chris, though he doesn't know it yet Erin ~ In a gathering of poetic minds, it doesn't surprise me that the majority aren't fans of math. Personally, my disdain for math is because nobody was ever able to tell me why 2 + 2 = 4. It just is. I'm an associative learner, so as soon as 'If you have five apples and take away two' type questions stopped, I was going downhill fast! |

Well, I see we haven't had a smarty pants that's stated it yet so I'll say it. My favorite had to be Sex Ed! Hehe (just kidding) Really, I'd have to say my favorite was anything that faced me with a challenge. I enjoyed all of my math classes. Least favorite, anything that was slow and any class with a teacher from hell! ~Sheri |

Okay, High School Favorites: Ceramics (I loved the wheel) and shorthand (only because I sat next to a gorgeous young lady and we would fall asleep together - Yeah, we each wrote in our yearbooks how we enjoyed sleeping with each other during third period...) Least favorites: Everything else, including English. University Favorites: Psychology, philosophy, and Linguistic Anthropology. Least Favorites: All the math and english courses. I was thinking about soemthing that did seem ironic in my studies. Math is the subject I like the least. But for some reason, the career paths I've chosen have stuck me with increasing and varying levels of math over the past eight years or so. And now, as I dig back into calculus as a work related subject, I wonder how I keep getting stuck with this...? |

That's easy, Chris. In today's world you can either work in a job that requires you to know math or you can work in a job where someone else does the math for you. |

The only class I remember severely not liking was History, and only because all we did was memorize dates. BORING All in all though, I love(d) school...I can never learn enough. When I first started college, I had a double major...Mathematics and Computer Applications(with a concentration of Webmaster, of all things). I've since changed (life and schools! haha) and now I'm working on an AAS in Computer Network Systems Technologies. Fun Fun! |

I don’t really have fond memories of school, my favourite classes were English and Art. The ones I hated were metalwork and woodwork…everything I tried to build turned out really wrong. Also hated technical drawing. The ladders of life that we scale merrily Move mysteriously around So that when you think you're climbing up, man In fact you're climbing down-Nick ca |

Favourite: History 216. For non-college professor types, it's the history of England up to 1688. And NO, I didn't take it because Andrew lives in England, I took it because it was either 216, or 212, which is Canadian "history". *gags* I already know all I need to know about my country's history. How often can one learn that John A. Macdonald was a drunk? (but he was the best prime minister that Canada's ever had ) Anyway, it turns out that I've been pleasently surprised about it, and I absolutely LOVE my history class. Most Hated: Economics. I want to burn my textbook. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!!!! I don't CARE about what a national survey tells us about the nations economy. The only reason I'm taking it is cause I need a math. Great math, I think I've used math once... and that was to calculate how many minutes left in class. Why do I hate it so? Because I got really really sick, and couldn't make myself get up for a 9 o'clock class for 3 to 4 weeks. We were still on the same chapter when I went back to class that we were on before I got sick. Anyway, that's my vent for now. Don't take Economics, if you value your sanity. |

I'm only in high school...pity me. ^^; Favorites: Chem (although there has been quite a few...err...incidents in that class. ^^) and Spanish. A long time ago, when I took art, art was definately a favorite, but for .5 credits, all that work wasn't worth it. I draw during my sparetime now. ^_^ World issues is a good class. VERY interesting. ^_^; Neutral: English, Physics (my lowest mark right now, but the teacher's grunting amuses me) Least: Well, I'm getting a good mark in Math, but I still dun like it. Canadian histor- z z z -_-; I'm going to try and get into AP Bio next year...though it's pretty much impossible. I'll have to bribe the admin. XD Shh. Planning on going into Forensics, so I kind of need bio. |

I absolutely HATE math. The last class I went to, I spent my time planning the demise of the person who made Math 11 a requirement. I'll spare you the gory details. I also dislike CAPP. If there was ever a course that was a waste of time, it's CAPP. Bah. I love English, except I don't like the class I'm in. They're teaching us language, because a few people don't know what a comma is for. *sigh* But I do like the course, generally. It will get better. I hope.
