Okay, so I am in high school forensics (Speech & Drama) and I'm always looking for the right piece. I stumble upon many pieces, only to find out they are not truly "published". This website uses the word published quiet frequently, and I was just wondering if these poems, more descriptively I Pray They See This Too by Rwood and Scared by our very own Ron Carnell. Both of these pieces brought tears to my eyes, and I would love to perform them for competitions, but I just need to make sure they are for sure published pieces. So if I could get some quick feedback on whether these are usable or not, that would be much appreciated! Have a great day!

If they weren't published, my friend, you likely wouldn't know they even existed. :-)

But, yea, I know what you  mean. Even though very few books or magazines have as wide an audience as we've had over the years, there's still a lot of people who equate "published" with ink and dead trees.

I can't speak for Regina, but no, "Scared" has never been published outside of the Pip network.

We have, however, published three printed-on-real-paper books over the years, all three of which are listed on this poetry site map at the main site. Each book has a table of contents available, and every poem in every book was first posted either in the forums or at the main site. We also have two forums in the Archives section of the forum devoted to two of those books. So, if you find a poem you like here, you can then check the books to see if it was "published" outside the Web.

Good luck with your forensic speaking. I did that in high school, too, and loved it.

One of the highlights of my year is helping out with the Speech and Drama competition for Students in my community.  Forensics sounds like something I would have loved.  Good luck to you.
