Why not a jazz club. Maybe you can get some of the jazz folk to talk to you about how they do jazz and somebody can talk a little bit about the math of it all. Music and math are related you know. Maybe you can get somebody to let you watch them do recordings. Maybe you could find something interesting at the Institute For advanced Studies at Princeton. Maybe they have something for High School Kids, maybe not. Why not google math and New Jersey or just spend some time fooling around with that stuff on the computer and see what comes up? Just a few thoughts. |

Planetary observation site. Bakery, or any restaurant [dealing with quantity and how to anticipate the number of units to be sold every day; what goes into preparation of individual meals...] Zoo, what it takes to feed its animals... Grocery stores [again, numbers of units] and also incorporate each student's need to "plan a meal for 10" and figure out what one would require for a five course meal... all math related. |
