my grandad passed away last year and i wrote this poem for his funeral although i couldnt bring myself to read it out. my nan hasnt heard it yet but i have had it laminated and it is going on his headstone.... hope you like it...

SO HEAVEN HAS RECEIVED ANOTHER ANGEL
THE NIGHT SKY ANOTHER STAR
YOUR LIFE HAS BECOME A LOVING MEMORY
I KNOW YOU WILL NEVER BE FAR

I KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING OVER ME
AS MY LIFE GOES ON
I WILL TREASURE THE MEMORIES I HAVE OF YOU
I CANT BELIEVE YOU'RE GONE

YOU WERE A LOVING CARING GRANDAD
YOU WERE THERE FOR ME A LOT
YOU WILL ALWAYS HOLD A PLACE IN MY HEART
A LOVING TREASURED SPOT

YOU WERE REALLY ONE IN A MILLION
A CUT ABOVE THE REST
ALL THAT KNEW YOU WOULD AGREE
YOU SIMPLY WERE THE BEST

SO GRANDAD I WILL SAY GOODBYE
I LOVE AND MISS YOU WITH ALL MY HEART
BUT AS LONG AS I HAVE MY LOVING MEMORIES
WE WILL NEVER BE TOO FAR APART.

sarlou,
Yes a lovely tribute. He would have been proud. Peace to you for your courage and understanding. And welcome to Passions.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

thank you everyone for your lovely comments, I can only write about things I am really passionate about.   You were right he was a wonderful man.  and just so u know i chose my message icon because my grandad had a tattoo of a swallow on his hand and although  i dont think that is a swallow it kinda looks like one
