Hey! How come I cannot see them anymore??! Christopher, you must help us out by doing one.  Where is everyone's holdiay spirit?? Doesn't anyone wanna play with me and my big sister? Huh? What's up? I'm gonna tell Santa on ya'll and you will only find coal in your socks....Christmas morning that is, not to-morrow morning .... unless you work in a mine ... or still have a coal furnace...ooooh...Nancy Lee, remember Nan and Poppy's coal shoot? Chris~I can see them, how come you can't??  I'll play with ya! Yes, I remember the coal shoot, but, that mouse...didn't it have three legs?  You mean...he walked upright on his hind legs? Ooooooooh! As Karen would say "Gleeee!" I can see the elves again! He only had one leg? Oh no, I'm gonna have bad dreams! Whaaaaa! You always used to do this to me Nancy Lee....tell me scarey stories like mice with one leg. Wait a sec ..... oh, three legs! Ha ha haaa! Why in heaven's name would I chew the toe of your old sock just to eat a tangerine, when it was so easy to steal one out of your lunch bag?!! Ha ha haaaa!! Just because Santa wasn't in my mall today...doesn't mean that he didn't get my letter! And it was a doozey! Oh, and another thing - how did you know that I was "takin' a peek" unless....you weren't also out in the hall? Hmmmmmm?  |

scorpio - Santa didn't mind me takin' a peek under the Christmas tree. He told me so himself when he was at our house one Christmas Eve drinking "a little somethin' to keep him warm" out a big red bulb off our tree. Honest! So, umm...Joey wasn't supposed to drink eggnog huh? Ooops  How was I supposed to know? Dad said that Joey didn't have any innards so a wee bit shouldn't bother him the way it did human beings. 'bout all it could do was give him wood rot.........ha ha haaaaaa!!! |

I dunno Chris. Seems Joey didn't have the guts to drink eggnog. ahahahaaa! And Gus couldn't drink it cause his cigar got wet everytime he took a drink. Santa said something weird when I talked to him today... He told me nice girls get chocolates, and naughty girls get lots and lots of presents... I'm all confused and don't know what to think..or how I should be.  Isn't anybody going to Elf themself? Go look at Meeka the dog faced elf then. |

Not to worry dear sister of mine. I seem to remember you unwrapping lots and lots of presents with a half empty box of chocolates on your lap. Plus...you said - "Christmas is weird. What other time of the year do you sit in front of a dead tree and eat candy out of your socks?" Has your memory failed you...again? What about our last family picnic? |

Hi Martyjo! Ya know what's funny about all this? It's all true!! We don't make up stories about our family.. this is the way it is, and was, and will forever be. I think the Christmas Santa drank the magic milk from the ornament on the tree... is the same one, we took the live rabbit out of 'weemus the wizard's' magic box and filled it with Christmas cookies. ahhaaa. His rabbit disappeared. That really went over well with Dad. His kind of fun. Like the year Santa brought him a remote control helicopter and he chopped the tops off of all mom's plants with it's blade, while trying to learn how to fly it, in the living room! Hey Chris! Remember that Christmas recently you came down here and we put that tray of things out at the curb for a lost soul...oh maybe you don't want them to know, bout that. And it wasn't a box of chocolates on my lap while I was opening presents either!!  I think it was a box of oats for the pony you didn't get!! |

Then there was the time one Christmas Eve, when company was many, and Mom had a pot of her homemade chili simmering on the stove. Well, seeing as how Mom was busy being an excellent hostess and performing the "can-can" with my grandmother and great aunt, I being such a good little helper, pulled up a chair and peered into the chili pot upon the stove. Hmmmm....needs a little somethin' I thought to myself. Yes! Chili pepper flakes, that'll do the trick. Santa will be so proud of me for helping out. I later learned, he was proud of me, my sister, my grandmother, my father...and heaven only knows who else decided to pamper the chili!! Needless to say quite soon after it was served in bowls that luckily weren't made of wax, the happy partiers made hasty exits. "I wonder why they all left so fast?" my father asked as he helped himself to a second helping of the brew. Nothing ever seemed too spicey for our Dad. That's probably why he married Mom....lol. I can see him now, Davey Crockett coontail hat on his head, dipping toast into the bubbling inferno and winkin' at Mom who was sweetly waving goodbye out the window to the last of the revelers stuffing snow onto their flaming tongues. Christmas memories...ain't they grand? |

*Sitting here laughing and crying..dabbing at the mascara* How well I recall that Christmas Eve and the chili Chris! That was Slim and his monkey that stopped by and had some of the flaming feast. Ah, but we got mom and dad up bright and early Christmas morn so Dad could see what toy Santa had brought him! He always got a toy from Santa. Dad in his Davey Crocket hat...LOL...I have pics yanno? Mom doing the CanCan with Nana. God how I miss them all.  But what wonderful memories they left us with. Yes Scorpio, Santa stopped by one Christmas Eve came in, bells a ringin' and get this.. He took an ornament, a bulb off our Christmas tree and poured a glass of milk from it!! Surprised the adults, but, not my sister and I. We always new Santa was magic! Mom and Dad told us so. |

Yes, scorpio, we did have a magical childhood. I believe that the best present our parents ever gave us was their eternal optomisim and childlike dreams. Oh, there have been Christmas's that were a little bare, lonely, and not quite "up to snuff" as our Dad would say, but the love they gave and wishes that they had for our futures, more than made up for lack of wrapped gifts. As we grew up....or should I say, "matured" (we don't ever wanna grow up), these memories have become like golden threads joining my sister and me to each other and our parents long passed. Sharing some of these "magical" memories with all of our Pip friends is a blessing. Thankyou all for allowing us to sort of "steal" this thread. Please, please join in with your memories as well. Cheers! |
